Friday, March 27, 2009 6:19:38 AM > OldOllie > I heard the best thing to do when somebody faints is to rub their chestSo, when someone passes out, its loosen their clothing, rub their chest, put your mouth on their mouth... anyone see a pattern here, or was the guy who invented First Aid completely normal? |

Friday, March 27, 2009 1:24:26 AM "any college... umm... any college... heeuuh huh"I don't know why but when she was saying that while fainting it really really bugged and annoyed the hell out of me, I really really don't know why. I would have just let her fall, it is sand anywyas. |

Friday, March 27, 2009 12:14:54 AM I still think anemia played a part, Look at how pale she is (especially for a volleyball player) and she's really thin. |

Thursday, March 26, 2009 11:14:42 PM I love how porky standing next to her does absolutely nothing with hands in pocket. Failure! I actually feel sorry for the lad. Thin as a rail & appeared sick just by color of her face! |

Thursday, March 26, 2009 10:41:43 PM I don't think the guy just standing there did anything wrong. She only fainted. It's not exactly life threatening |

Thursday, March 26, 2009 10:29:33 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpckrhqkW...It happens often during prolonged periods of standing. LESSON - DO NOT LOCK YOUR KNEES WHEN STANDING IN PLACE FOR ANY EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. |

Thursday, March 26, 2009 10:20:44 PM Thats sad - she was nervous, and most likely LOCKED HER KNEES. Locking your knees causes a reduction in blood flow and can make you pass out.WHY WOULD SHE HAVE LOCKED HER KNEES? Think about it - getting ready to do live tv - they tell you - stand right here until we are ready - so you do, but standing in one place is very uncomfortable unless you lock your knees which distributes the weight off of your muscles onto your bones - but cuts blood flow through the major arteries in the legs. SO, she was nervous, had to stand in place for a long time, locked her knees, was TOO AFRAID to tell someone she felt ill, when she knew she had to speak for only 30 seconds. Not uncommon actually. I saw a person have to step out from military formation due to locking of the knees, and they specifically told us not to do it. The hard part is, when standing in place for extended periods of time, locking knees seems more comfortable. But, then you pass out...

Thursday, March 26, 2009 9:53:27 PM I wouldn't be too hard on the guy who just stayed away with his hands in his pocket. The bystander effect is a very common psychological reaction during an event like that. It is very easy to assume that a person should do something looking from the outside. maybe not when it is happening right in front of you though with no actual time to prepare for it. |
