Friday, March 27, 2009 8:44:53 AM I've been homeless before, lived 4 months in a Salvation Army shelter. Not as scary as I was lead to believe. Taught me how to live on the cheap and save money. |

Friday, March 27, 2009 8:32:31 AM The same basic idea is the technology behind the "invisibility cloaks" scientists are trying to cook up as we speak. And @ Baal, That's an interesting plan you had there. What did you do for food? |

Friday, March 27, 2009 8:24:29 AM Woot, nice idea! Big Issue anyone? Big Issue? I spent a little while sleeping at train stations and not having a place to live. One of the things you should really try is getting a gym membership, or or finding a public swimming pool. In the UK, this let me shower, and gave me a place to store my clothes. Joining a public library cost a few quid, which meant internet access + showers. After that all you need is a safe place to sleep. You can also arrange for a P.O.Box most places so you can receive mail. All in all, if you ever find yourself stuck, you just need an income of ~$15 a week to keep going until you can find yourself a new job and better prospects, all while staying clean/healthy/safe. |

Friday, March 27, 2009 7:49:45 AM I thought it was really nifty. I saw something like this a few years ago. I think the people developing the concept were called Tachi Labs or something. Apparently the illusion is much greater is the image is projected onto retroreflective material. And without giving it much thought, why doesn't this type of thing get more consideration? I can only think of brick walls in the style of Wile E. Coyote, but come on. I would like to see them project flames onto the homeless man next time. |
