Monday, March 23, 2009 10:07:30 PM Tesla's great if you have $100k to spend on a car that *also* only seats two people and has limited luggage space, but it's absurdly out of reach for most people. I know dozens of people who can afford a $25k car, I know maybe two people who can afford a $100k car. |

Monday, March 23, 2009 10:03:49 PM Groogle - The car is bigger than it looks. From the Aptera web site: Cavernous Cargo Compartment With enough room for 15 bags of groceries, a couple of surfboards, or sets of golf bags, this cargo space is sure to meet your needs.

Monday, March 23, 2009 9:56:16 PM If you need longer range, you can wait for the Aptera 2H. That will be a plug-in gas-electric hybrid. It will be pure electric drive with gas generator backup. So it has unlimited range, but if you drive less than 100 miles a day you don't use any gas at all. |

Monday, March 23, 2009 9:39:37 PM When I need to take my kids somewhere, I will use my SUV. When I need to get to work and back, I'd rather drive this. Out here in the suburbs we call it a "second car". |

Monday, March 23, 2009 12:27:36 PM I want to take the kids to football practice... oh wait, it has almost zero storage. I want to drive more than 100 miles before I have to wait 8 HOURS for the stupid thing to charge. You can't even take this thing on a holiday day trip because it doesn't have the range. The only thing that makes this more useful than a Seguey is that you won't get wet if it's raining. |

Sunday, March 22, 2009 7:33:15 PM Though, yes, we still may pollute making the electricity, it's still more efficient overall. Also, like habbazoot said, you can get it from wind and solar. If you live in a place sunny enough you can put solar panels on your house as well, and actually MAKE money by generating more electricity than your house uses, in which case the car generates no pollution.Still, 100 mile range? No thanks. Also doesn't seem to have a trunk. I mean, it's a good start, but they really need to improve that range and give it a way to carry stuff before I'd consider one. |

Sunday, March 22, 2009 5:35:12 PM im sure they have like a backup battery for such emergencies (or at least will have one soon). they wouldn't be this close to putting it out into the public if they hadn't figured that out yet |

Sunday, March 22, 2009 3:58:48 PM what happens when you run out of electricity in the middle of the highway its not like you will carry around a spare tank of electricity in you seemingly non existent trunk... but that car will definitely make a difference jugging but its looks speed low starting prise not to mention its originality!! |

Sunday, March 22, 2009 10:43:09 AM The car itself may not make any pollution, but if it needs charging, then you're just getting power for it from some coal power plant somewhere. So essentially, you don't really accomplish much there, your car can make the pollution, or you can have a factory do it for you, your choice. |

Sunday, March 22, 2009 9:36:17 AM I don´t believe that a electric car is the future or good for Kenatucky roads or for people who have to travel long distances. BUT, take L.A. only! Change regular cars with this and what a change!!! Morning traffic anyone? |

Sunday, March 22, 2009 6:40:35 AM Your one-off electric car dis-interests me.Besides, battery-powered cars are not the future. They don't go very far, don't go very fast and take ages to charge. Plus you can't trust mile-range figures, just like you can't trust manufacturer's mpg figures. Hydrogen is better, or it will be when we can get H2 cleanly and greenly. |

Sunday, March 22, 2009 6:26:59 AM Meh, 100 miles per charge? That'd barely make it to work and back at my last job. Give me a Carver 1. Estimated 40mpg and just shy of a 9g tank means an operating distance of 360 miles. Of course I already have an ST-1100 that does 40mpg w/7g tank and it's 7 years old. *shrug* |

Sunday, March 22, 2009 6:23:59 AM "Nine cents per mile is very low for a gas car. If you're going to amortize the battery cost for the electric, you have to amortize the engine cost for the gas."The video claims 9 cents per mile for gas cars. Amortizing the cost of the engine isn't necessary because engines typically outlast the typical useful life of the car (i.e., 200,000 miles). You need to amortize the cost of the battery because it does not outlast the life of the car. |

Sunday, March 22, 2009 5:16:38 AM Yeah.. in Kentucky that wouldn't work. We have to many rough roads for that thing to traverse. |

Sunday, March 22, 2009 4:09:18 AM i would never make it in one day on 100 miles. they should up the mileage per charge to like 250mi at least and make it look less ghey. |

Sunday, March 22, 2009 4:05:28 AM Electric cars are either way to expensive, Slow, Odd looking, Take forever to charge, Or non-utilitarian. This one has 4 out of 5 of those faults. The battery technology just isn't advanced enough yet to make them competitive, Yet. |

Saturday, March 21, 2009 11:04:55 PM Yeah I have to say I am impressed by how durable and nice this vehicle is. Get into a little fender bender? Who cares it's not your car with the nasty damage to it this time lol. Efficient quite durable and safe who wouldn't want one. |

Saturday, March 21, 2009 10:51:11 PM I want one...I am sure that they can soon make a 4 person version, but I don't need a 4 person version so it would be fine for me. I would only need it for longer drives anyways. I have a perfectly good set of legs, and for medium distances, my city has public transportation. |

Saturday, March 21, 2009 8:13:49 PM People need to realise that this is the begening of EV cars and that if the concept takes off it's going to evolve.Just like combustion engine cars did since the 1900's. |

Saturday, March 21, 2009 8:02:49 PM I hope to God a vehicle like this does not become popular on the road. i hate cars with designs like these. I can understand making an ecofriendly car, but why does it have to look like something out of the Jetsons... |
