Laughing at "pedo" in "pedomorphosis" because it's also used in "pedophilia", is like getting grossed out by the word "blackberry" because "black" is also used in "blackhead". |

*Sigh* Yes, Pedo--It means "child". It's the root word of both Pedomorphosis, and "pedophilia". It's also the root of "pediatric"; "pediatrician"; "pedology", and "paedophobia" (yes it's spelled right). "Pedo" means child or young, and that's all it means unless you attach an affix to it. "Pedo" does not mean child-molester unless you add "philia" (a suffix meaning "friendship" or "liking"[too much]).

My friends dad says the only reason babies are "cute" is so we won't toss them in the trash. Though I suppose some people feel the need, cute or not. |
