diggna - Most of the time, people don't like things they don't know, or they're scared by them. From birth, it's pretty much hardwired into us that humans aren't going to harm us (the way babies learn and process information is amazing), so, instead of being afraid of what it is, if it looks human, we'll assume it's friendly...or at least not much of a threat.
Or, that's what I guess.

Wow, it can "look" at things.
This makes dust mites more intelligent, because they at least do something constructive.

To me, the "Why" question is: "Why do we continue to try and make these things look human?"

"So its a robot that can look at stuff. Why?"

It's experimentation and development of technology for later application in . . . who knows what.

Why make a stick that moves a dot around a screen? So you can later invent video games and call it a "joy-stick".

It's just one piece of technology that could be applied to lots of things we probably haven't thought of yet.

The only way this would be scary is if you put your face up to it and it followed you around everywhere.

I don't understand what this could be used for... Interesting technology tho, just weird in "baby" form... :/

WOW, what a remarkable achievement. It should only be weeks before "Baby Stares at Stuff" dolls are flying off the shelves. Watch out Elmo!
