The media portrayed Bush as a monkey for the past 8 years.

"I agree so by your own statement stop writing anything anywhere after all someone might take what you say the "wrong" way."

Obama is the President. "Monkey" is a well known racial slur for someone of African descent. A picture of a monkey getting shot shortly after the stimulus bill takes place is printed in the NY Post. You don't have to be a genius to connect them all together.

>>>>you seeing black first, monkey second though is a tad bit disturbing<<<<

No you see what you are conditioned to see first. If you spend all your time looking for racism that is what you will see, if you spend your time listen to Al S. you will likely assume his take on it is correct. Many many others looked at it read the text and took it to refer to a group of monkey pounding on typewriters, congress.

>>>>What I think the real problem is is that the comic is racially insensitive. The artist should have known that his comic could be viewed in different ways and should be aware of the influence he or she has.<<<

By the way what animal could a cartoonist portray the president as and not get any backlash?

Look at the TEXT. "Someone else to WRITE the stimulus bill." Obama did not write it so it is OBVIOUS that the cartoonist was talking about congress.

Could possibly be comparing congress to a bunch of monkeys, but they deserve it if they didn't realise how people would act over it.

Becasue, dleifrag19, they were insulting his intelligence, not calling him a deragatory name.

Okay lets see who is racist here? From your point of view. When Bush was called a monkey it was about his intelligence, when Obama is it's being used as a racial slur. Does this not tell you something. You people create racism.

Its official; the NY times hates Obama.

Remember that comic of him and his wife dressed like muslims in the white house?

"Racism right there."

Okay, how is that racist fojos? By racially insensitive I mean that the author should have considered ALL points of view before making his comic. "Monkey" is a well known racist slur. He should have considered that.

I don't think they intended it to be racist, but people took it that way. If something can be taken the wrong way like that, then it shouldn't be published.

Let's see...I found this website http://www.bushorchimp.com/ and it was started back in 2000. Why people have to play the race card, now that the President is half black is ridiculous.

It isn't friggin' racist at all. The current story in the USA now besides the stimulus bill, is a crazy chimp that has been in tv commercials who went crazy and ripped a womans face off putting her in critical condition. The cops had to shoot and kill the monkey. The race card is too overplayed...
