So here's a funny story...When us modly types ban someone from IAB, we fill in the details of why the ban was in order. First part of this story, is that most bans are for posting hardcore gay midget porn in the forums. But some are for just being a dick troll, and pissing all the regulars off. Just a 10-14 year old kid, in all probability, who doesn't know better. Second part is, I didn't realise that when we fill in the "reason for ban" details, is that it gets sent to the user as part of an automated email message. Turns out they get a "Sorry, but you have been banned from IAB because *INSERT BAN REASON*" Now, I thought the ban reason was for mod eyes only, as kind of an audit trail. Turns out, I had no idea that I have sent emails to hundreds of kids (without my knowledge of doing so) along the lines of "Generic f*cktwit. Strongly suspect lack of oxygen during childbirth." |
