"As soon as you can argue using more than three points."

Please clarify. As soon as I can argue using more than three points, what will occur?

"something tells me sixclaws13 uses a mac, anyone else get that vibe?"

I hate Macs. I use Linux. You fail on all accounts.

ROFL! I've been reading your argument for a while, and I have to say its f_cking hilarious. I must say this knowing that there are many people that agree with me that religion is by far the worst STD(spiritually transmitted disease). All it is, is a defense mechanism in your brain, that makes you actually believe that everything is going to be alright because some guy you see for an hour on sunday says so. I can't wait for the aliens to show up and put all that "god" $hit to rest. (BTW I'm not talking about Tom Cruis's aliens, I'm talking about the hard core "probe you in the ass" aliens. Just to clarify) Oh yea, I almost forgot, something tells me sixclaws13 uses a mac, anyone else get that vibe?

A predictable answer, Cheese84o6. You don't seem to make any distinctions between varying types and intensities of porngraphy, and while surely there are categories and fetishes that qualify as wicked (though one could argue these content people with fantasy; I wouldn't), not all pornography is necessarily so. You speak of 'horrors of porn' but do the career choices of those working in the industry truly compare to the horrors of, say, the sex trade? Is willingly exposing one's body to a camera for compensation truly as miserable as being betrayed into service, forced into sex with strangers? Gain a little perspective.

"I have no lack of evidence."

I specifically said *objective* evidence. You have only *subjective* evidence. Please tell me you can appreciate the distinction.

Cheese84o6 may have an unconventional argument, but he's right about one thing. C.S. Lewis is a true genius.

"Is this what you tell yourself to reconcile the lack of objective evidence of a god, that he's hiding from us?"

I have no lack of evidence. He has proven himself to me. And He doesn't hide, you just refuse to see him.

"I don't need your help sixclaws. In case you haven't noticed I am indeed spiritual and have a coherent philosophy. The whole point of my little exercise was to get you to see the difference between healthy spirituality and fundamentalism, to look into the abyss so to speak"

You don't need my help, you need His.

No reason really, it has no relevance to anything but it's a morality VS. Self Control Question. People fight for freedom of speech in terms of porn, but there is not doubt in the mind of anyone who knows the horrors of porn that it is wrong. And if you do look at it your supporting it.

I wasn't actually seeking an answer, I was lampooning you. You don't get to ask me personal questions. But since you've answered it I suppose that puts me in a bit of a bind. Why do you want to know?

Hey, Cheese8406, just out of curiosity, do you masturbate with your eyes open or closed? Be honest.

"Your conversion experience saved you from ambiguity, from fear of the unknown, fear of disorder. Fear of Death."

I'm atheist and I have no such fears. Ask me why.

Sorry the fear thing was a quote i forgot to put quotes around. I was responding with the CS lois bit.

And eyes open now answer my question.

(SP everything, I'm not a grammar Nazi but i like my posts to be readable.)

You should read C.S. Louis, the bible by no means calls you to stop thinking, any intellectual who doesn't have great respect for C.S. Louis is probably just biased because he was a brilliant man, along with hundreds of scientists that have contributed to where we are today.

Guilt, Shame and Fear sure are powerful weapons, aren't they Religion-Bear?"

Your conversion experience saved you from ambiguity, from fear of the unknown, fear of disorder. Fear of Death. Now you have an infallible manual to tell you what to do, to comfort you, to divide the world into black and white, good and bad, saved and unsaved. There can be no middle ground b/c there is no middle ground. You need never to think for yourself ever again, which is good as introspection is painful. And whenever creeping doubt comes back (as it inevitably does) there is always the book you can use to kill those thoughts.

You should read C.S. Louis, the bible by no means calls you stop thinking, any intellectual who doesn't not have great respect for C.S. Louis is probably just biased because he was a brilliant man, along with hundreds of scientists that have contributed to where we are today.

"Trust me, if you are blessed enough to experience it, it will be enough."

Delusions can be delightful little things, Sixclaws. I don't dispute that. What I'm asking is that you provide something that suggests what you are experiencing is not a delusion. Until you do, you have no justification to claim that I am a slave to myself for not participating of your beliefs.

"God has no obligation to prove his existence to us."

Is this what you tell yourself to reconcile the lack of objective evidence of a god, that he's hiding from us? I wasn't requiring proof from God, I was requiring proof of God from you. I'm making the point that you cannot provide such proof and that no honestly rational basis exists for belief but rather that belief is culturally-determined.

God has no obligation to prove his existence to us. If it was obvious, almost everyone would claim to love him, only for the rewards it offers. Faith, an integral part of Christianity, would become pointless.

"some direct or trace evidence that is not tied to personal experience"

Trust me, if you are blessed enough to experience it, it will be enough.

"Yes. It did save you from yourself. Fundamentalism hates above all the individual consciousness and seeks to destroy it whenever it can. Nothing is more painful and confusing then the daily messiness and connection to mundane existence. "

When you're ready to give up your human traits of pride and conceit and willing to admit that there's something more, something that you just can't grasp, find someone to talk to. There's a lot of incompetence out there that you have to look out for, but there's also a lot of good people who would love to help you.

"Yes, but it's not."

Righto!

I'm often accused of being too narrow-minded and set in my ways, but in my defense I strenuously object (wink) that I am indeed susceptible to having my mind changed. There are conditions, of course, but to that I would argue my conditions are more reasonable than someone of opposing view. A faithful Christian would only abandon his view if humanity can definitively disprove God's existence, which is currently impossible and might remain so. I'm asking for far less, namely some direct or trace evidence that is not tied to personal experience, appeals to emotion, appeals to morality, or phenomenon easily attributable to natural processes; something that suggests a deity or a being with deity-like abilities exists or did exist in some objective, verifiable capacity. If one feels this is asking too much, it is only because religion cannot meet me halfway.
