Thursday, December 25, 2008 2:39:42 AM Bears, you say?*tries to stay on-topic, but can't contain himself* Black Bears are cool. And everyone knows the opposite of black bears is polar bears. And they're vaguely Christmassy. Which leads circuitously on to the next point: MERRY CHRISTMAS I-A-Bers! HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY! |

Thursday, December 25, 2008 2:30:06 AM You CAN'T play dead if it is a black bear you are facing. Everyone who lives near black bears knows that if a black bear attacks it attacks to kill and if you "play dead" it will just start eating you from the back. The only thing you can do is fight him. |

Thursday, December 25, 2008 12:31:23 AM What I've seen posted on signs around the forests in the bear infested areas near me is that, if the bear is about to attack, you should wave your arms around and make deep loud noises. High pitched nosies sound like their prey. Though I suppose the bears around here are pretty small, so waving around would make sense if you're about the same size as the bear.Cougars, though? That's a whoooole different story. |
