Tuesday, December 16, 2008 8:31:12 PM Interesting. Sathon's video that is. Se the Sathon user profile states that he is from Canada. The user profile connected to that vid states the player is from the U.S. That user also hasn't been signed in in weeks.. yet one would think when going to your own vids to find your link you'd be signed in... Interesting. |

Tuesday, December 16, 2008 11:28:54 AM i watched your video on youtube "sathon" and I have also played the flute for 13 years. You just need to get over yourself this guy's just having a great time beat boxing and playing. also... you need to work on your embouchure when you move between octaves. dude. |

Monday, December 15, 2008 3:57:11 PM So Sathon is now going to backpedal, and deny, deny, deny, when the implication is clearly there for all to see. Well ETHAN ol' boy, I checked you out on youtube. You have indeed taken some flute lessons. That in itself does not make your previous statement any less pompous, and dick-like. You can indeed play the flute, and for that I congratulate you. Since I work for professional musicians in the civilian world, I see a lot of attitude like yours, and can only say that blurting out crap like you did doesn't score you any points amongst your peers. Who's to say your obnoxious comment won't eventually come back and bite you in the ass? Backpedal all you want. You're still a pompous dick. |

Monday, December 15, 2008 2:05:30 PM "No, vocal percussion has been around since before history, but vocal percussion and beatboxing are not the same thing. Beatboxing is a new variation of vocal percussion that gets its roots from hip hop. Saying that they are the same is like saying that metal and rock are the same."how is beatboxing not vocal percussion? just because you obviously have an issue with rap and hip hop, another completely legitimate art form, doesn't mean that beatboxing is somehow different from vocal percussion. check out the link i posted before, they are exactly the same. the guy i posted before is actually in a jazz trio as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bdSfmYdJ... |

Monday, December 15, 2008 2:04:55 PM osirisascend, I never in any way implied that I am "awesome" on the flute. However, I do play it, and I did learn to play a little bit of Jazz last year, and I know what is involved.I have nothing but respect for Greg Patillo. It would actually be pretty stupid if I didn't because I recently won first place in a flute contest in which he was a judge. Greg Patillo actually plays the flute, and throws in some beatboxing, rather than being a beatboxer who spent a week learning a how to make a sound and finger one or two notes. I suggest you look up Greg Patillo's video of "Peter and the Wolf" to see some actually flute playing. This video, on the other hand, is nothing but a bunch of beatboxing with a flute picking up the air that he happens to be blowing out. He actually sounds like a decent beatboxer, but he doesn't deserve to have the word "flute" in his name. However, if you still insist on hearing some of my flute playing, |

Monday, December 15, 2008 1:28:54 PM I agree Sathon is not just a dick, but a POMPUS one as well..."As a Jazz Flute player, I can honestly say, that sounds like poo." Well then Sathon, since you are implying that you're some sort awesome on the flute yourself, instead of talking a truckload of sh*t perhaps you should demonstrate your skills for the world to see. Unless you're just a big talker and basically SUCK. I officially call out Sathon. Let's see what skills YOU got big talker!

Monday, December 15, 2008 12:42:17 PM As a Jazz Flute player, I can honestly say, that sounds like poo.I mean come on, he's hardly even playing the flute. At least Greg Patillo plays more than three notes in his songs. Any "beatboxer" can pick up a flute and do what that guy just did. That's not flute beatboxing, it's beatboxing with a flute in front of your face and moving your fingers two or three times. |

Monday, December 15, 2008 8:36:29 AM the last 1 was the best, the whole thing woulda been better if he just stayed fluteboxing instead of keeping playing the flute normally all the time. |

Monday, December 15, 2008 7:45:24 AM "I'm sure you will, but what about the new musical fad that will be around in 20 years? I don't know, maybe people will be rubbing grasshoppers against their penises and calling it music. Will you still think it's "drating awesome art" when some jackass makes a video of himself playing a flute while rubbing grasshoppers on his dick? "Ohh, but that's just silly and will never become a musical fad!" Oh yea? Go back in time and tell people from the 50's that in a few decades people will be making rapid fart noises from their mouths, calling it 'beatboxing' and doing it on a flute."beatboxing has been around since before any classical music, this is primitive art, and i don't mean that in a bad way. why distinguish between something beautiful in its simplicity and something that is beautiful in its complexity. art is anything you create and as long as the intent is sincere then there is no need to criticize. |

Monday, December 15, 2008 7:39:50 AM In ten years you would have seen more real musicians who can beatbox, vocally emulate a saxophone, and can compose their own music and sing too. Dont bet on it, KID. |
