In answer to Felena's question, the wound dressing keeps the maggots in the wound. For getting them out, remember that they only feed on dead tissue, and they aren't used on abscessed wounds, mostly things like pressure ulcers, and diabetic ulcers. All they really do is take off the dressing, irrigate the wound with saline, and use tweezers to pull the remaining ones off. |

I didn't even watch this. I'm terrified of worms (I don't like to use the m-word). It's a psychological condition and a clinical phobia. If I had a gaping wound with rotting flesh, I would rather lose my limb than let them feast on me. I know it sounds stupid but you would have to have this fear to understand it. |

I actually don't think having medical maggots clean a wound would be that bad. They only eat dead flesh IIRC, and the "Ewww!" thing kinda goes away after you realize that it's a pretty good idea. |
