Tuesday, October 14, 2008 4:50:28 PM I'd add rap/hip hop, emo and boy bands. Also, Zerocyde, though I agree with you, expect to get PTK'ed. Everyone knows that when you diss rap, you summon PTK. |

Tuesday, October 14, 2008 1:14:51 PM "You show a shocking lack of knowledge about rap and music in general.Music has no rules, there is no qualification you need to have before you can make music. It doesn't take years or decades to write music and the required talent is not that rare." =========================================== Of course music has rules, everything in existence has rules. Can you paint a picture without some kind of paint? Can you sing without using your mouth? It has held true from 4000 years ago with the oldest known song in existence that was written with a Pythagorean tuning of the diatonic scale. What makes you think something that has been around for like 30 years gets to change the whole damn definition? Look, if you like rap, fine. But rap is poetry with a beat, NOT music. God, the fact that you seem to be proud of the fact that something you like requires little talent or practice is quite a disgusting reflection of the way things are headed. |

Tuesday, October 14, 2008 8:39:30 AM The way I've always have seen it, country music sells for the stories (lyrics), not for the music. Hip-hop, rap, and pop sell for the music (beats) and not the lyrics. It usually is classified as "dance" music. Now I find classic rock combines the two and rarely forsake either. Such a great time when an artist could inject meaning by words and make it much more meaningful by matching the perfect harmonies to it. Drug induced? Maybe, but it got the job done. Hey, its just my opinion. And I won't really compare anything for the mid 60's, thats a different breed. It's funny too, classic rock is my favorite genre, but Bobby Darin and Frank Sinatra could easily wipe the floor with most classic rock artists. |

Tuesday, October 14, 2008 8:24:48 AM I would just like to mention that The Darkness wasn't an attempt to bring hair metal back, they were parodying hair metal by using their actual musicality. Their music is quite good and their music videos are pure comedy (youtube: "I believe in a thing called love"), its wtf humor btw. |

Tuesday, October 14, 2008 4:26:00 AM "Music requires instruments, years to decades of practice, and a rare talent for orchestration and song writing. Not an electronic beat machine and a poem about money, weed, and disrespecting women."You show a shocking lack of knowledge about rap and music in general. Music has no rules, there is no qualification you need to have before you can make music. It doesn't take years or decades to write music and the required talent is not that rare. Rap music can use live instruments and have challenging and deep lyrics. If you choose to judge a whole genre by the tiny minority of it which is bandied about by the mainstream then you are plain wrong. Not that I expect you to believe me or care. Now, if you just don't like rap music ok but it's still s valid form of music. I don't really like Country but It is a valid form of music. |

Tuesday, October 14, 2008 2:55:03 AM "No genre of music is bad. Some like death metal and some like rap. Neither is bad, just one person's cup of tea isn't the other's. " I totally agree. And they can get along, too. I have a friend who is totally a metal fan while I tend to listen to pop, alternative, rap/hip-hop, and electronica. Totally different music tastes, but we accept each others.
And if people want rap to stop, guess what? It won't be. Too many people like it, so all I can say: Too bad, so sad. It's staying, so just accept it. |

Tuesday, October 14, 2008 12:17:28 AM @BasuraBlanca"Ahh, don't knock rap fellas!" "It's just as valid a form of music as any other." Music requires instruments, years to decades of practice, and a rare talent for orchestration and song writing. Not an electronic beat machine and a poem about money, weed, and disrespecting women. Rap is the ignorant masses answer to music. inb4 "I ONLY LISTEN TO THE """UNDERGROUND""" RAP, THE LYRICAL RAP, THE GOOD RAP, THIS ONE RAP SONG I LISTEN TOO EVEN HAS A REAL DRUM IN IT!" Good for you. Leonardo could have used cow poo instead of oil for the Mona Lisa too and it wouldn't be the same. |

Tuesday, October 14, 2008 12:06:22 AM 1. Rap 2. Rap 3. Rap 4. Rap 5. Rap 6. Rap 7. RapIf rap\hop was gone, the world would be such a better place that all of the other crappy things that happened in music would just really not matter. Hell, with rap gone, Art could actually come back from the brink of extinction! |
