If Metallica were a user on I-A-B, fancylad would have banned them for "douchebaggery."

Bunch of tools. Them trying to un-sell-out isn't working for me.

They should just quit.

They arent trying to "un-sell-out", their making a good album as they realised what they did wrong with load and st. anger.

Metallica has gotten so idiotic now, I doubt anyone cares. Their new songs are bogus. Where did my Metallica go wrong!?

Let me guess - album sales were down because everyone hated them for being dicks, and now they're trying to change that. Good luck!

Clayboy, you're making an unfair comparison - downloading doesn't do nearly as much harm to record sales as a lot of people think. In a way, it makes up for a lot of the potential harm by letting people try before they buy. This is especially important for small bands who are trying to publicize their work. The ability to download gets their music out way faster and cheaper than traditional methods of marketing. This isn't just a theory, either - from my own personal experience, I'd say most of the bands I listen to I discovered online through downloading. My CD collection would be much smaller if it wasn't for online filesharing.

I wasn't expecting much of the new album but it's actually not that bad.

Maybe they realized that all those lawsuits caused them to lose loyal fans...

Such as myself.

my problem with Metallica isn't the downloading thing, It's the fact that they really started to suck. Now they think that if they "go back to their roots" it will make everything OK.

Sure they deserve to get paid.

I still don't understand this backlash against Metallica. I mean, if any of you were refused a paycheck for the work you did you'd be livid and probably cursing out your employer for it. But because it happens to be a big band.. you think its their fault because they already have money. Well, what happens to the small bands that get pulled into the wake of this? What do they do to keep afloat if people just take their music?

Honestly I think all you band mouthing Metallica are hypocrites! Because you'd do the same if you were in their shoes.. even if the paycheck was smaller.

I'm not saying it's a bad album, but after St. Anger, an album like this might be the beginning of the end for them.

On the other hand, bands like Rolling Stones and a whole load of others have pumped out barely decent albums for decades now, why not Metallica?

I'm still buying this album though, after all it is still Metallica.

They were one of the main proponents of the RIAA's witch hunt. It's nice to see, they're finally changing their tune.

There are better things to worry about than whether your favorite band does such-and-such.

Like failing to pay the rent in time. You know, like me. >:(

I'll shut up now...

Metallica puts out album...the world goes back to sleep. It's been some time since these guys were relevant...that time was the 80's.

It's alright Opie.
I'm the same way... except that I barely ever listen to music. I just listen to what I like, that's why I hate it when people ask me what bands I like.

Yah i don't get this band - are they tough-guys? are they posers? are they.. gay?

Can never be too sure. With Avenged Sevenfold, ya know it's just kids, tallented kids, who are just making up an image, so it's kinda cool... But with Metallica... dude these are grown-ups and i don't know if they're singing from experience or making up for something they missed out on three decades ago. :/

Thanks, Snive. I don't feel as lame now.

I don't really follow bands either. I just kind of.. listen to music that I think is good...
