Monday, September 01, 2008 7:25:05 PM Teachers are directed to instruct their pupils... and to awaken in them a sense of their responsibility toward the community of the nation. –Bernhard Rust, Nazi Minister of Education, from "Racial Instruction and the National Community," 1935It is the absolute right of the State to supervise the formation of public opinion. – Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Germany Education is a weapon, whose effect depends on who holds it in his hands and at whom it is aimed. – Joseph Stalin Schools have not necessarily much to do with education... they are mainly institutions of control, where basic habits must be inculcated in the young. Education is quite different and has little place in school. – Winston Churchill |

Lets' also let people choose whether to take chemistry or alchemy, astronomy or astrology and physics or magick. --------------------- Even IF you make a teacher teach a specific curriculum, it doesn't mean the kids will listen or learn. The responsibility to learn is in the hands of the pupil. I don't think government has a place in schooling at all. I'm a somewhat agnostic evolutionist personally, by the way. The problem with government controlling schools is that they HAVE to teach so that the dumbest kid in the room understands it. This makes the smart kids simply unused potential, leaving more dull than when they came in. Also, it gives the government the opportunity to indoctrinate children into believing in and following a government agenda. You know what "teaching good citizenship" means? It means docility and complacency. |

Monday, September 01, 2008 3:26:07 PM davymid, try to keep up....she said she wants to teach both...personally, that makes sense...keep evolution and creationism as electives, that you can take if you want...I don't see a problem with that... |

Monday, September 01, 2008 3:13:17 PM obello there are A LOT of creation theories, one for every religion you cant teach ALL of them, and just teaching christian creationism is just wrong so to avoid it just teach evolution |

Monday, September 01, 2008 3:09:17 PM "She wants to teach mouth-breathing creationism alongside evolution in biology class." Maybe she's trying to be fair to both sides. (Creationist and Evolutionist) It lets the students choose the more obvious answer to them. If they pick a theory that makes you think they are stupid, then I say let them choose. Personally, I think evolution and creationism can co-exist, but thats for another place and another time, methinks. |

Monday, September 01, 2008 3:04:55 PM ^^ "If "oh my God! She was a sports caster!!",is the best you can come up with, then she's doing all right I think"I think I can come up with one better. She wants to teach mouth-breathing creationism alongside evolution in biology class. If that doesn't get my Right-Wing Nut-Bar Senses tingling, I dunno what will. |

Monday, September 01, 2008 2:30:20 PM (Sarcasm:Run) Gasp! The V.P. Nominee was a newscaster and therefore knows something about somewhat unbiased public speaking!? That can only mean that she's a bad pick! (Sarcasm laden with exclamation marks: end) |

Monday, September 01, 2008 2:26:28 PM so...being a newscaster means you can't be vice president? I love this VP pick...stroke of genius. If "oh my God! She was a sports caster!!",is the best you can come up with, then she's doing all right I think |
