"wonder how long until they try to use cultured human brain cells...."

I'm not as interested in using existing neurons to program behavior (though I am interested in neuron-computer hookups to the degree they may enable virtual reality). Nature already does that well enough and I think it'd be terribly... gauche for humans to basically steal the technology. Memristors are a much better candidate for supplanting neurons because they're purely the product of human ingenuity.

he's not completely scary
y'know, apart from his jerky movements and the albert einstein head that seemed to be chopped off and connected to a robot's body
not scary at all
@maddog, thanks for that link
just what i needed, a catchy song about technology invovling a very creepy child bot
seroiusly though, i luved it

"So does this mean that any one of us could be a robot?

"I can't wait until memristor technology becomes advanced enough so as to simulate neurons. Should have profound effects on the A.I. industry within the coming years."

Yeah, and then you hear about the rat brained robot...wonder how long until they try to use cultured human brain cells....or even find out that it doesn't matter where the cells came from they all have potential.

why go through all that work making a painstakingly realistic(and creepy) head and just leave a buzz lightyear-like body?

The premise of this whole string is flawed. Ronald Reagan was, and remains, the scariest robot ever. Sure, the technology was a little simpler then, so he wasn't as convincingly human in appearance, but he had scary to spare.

Don't believe me? Look it up... it is a well-documented fact that Ronald Reagan was manufactured by Walt Disney to promote legislation favorable to large corporations.

Ever hear of trickle down economics? Mission accomplished.

This reminds me of the robot Robin Williams played in Bicentennial Man. He ended up looking just like the humans and acted like them too.

It's coming people. Maybe not in our lifetime, but it's coming. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing though.
