"To me its almost a shame that its not common enough to warrant extensive study and maybe get help to some of these people so they don't go and do something potentially fatal like this guy" theres has been studies recently. they helped one guy buy putting a mirror against his good leg, so it looked like he had two good legs, rather than a nice leg and a leg he wanted removing, and he said the feelings were reduced, but only slightly. they tried something else but i dont remember...but the doctors said it was the first time theyve tried the treatment |

To NazareneYes perhaps we should pay more attention to this disorder. However there is a difference between Body Integrity Identity Disorder and Gender Identity Disorder.
Nature makes both men an women and there can be a mix-up at birth.
BIID is something different; it is actively going against nature. There will be a natural reason for it I know, but this is far more a disorder than GID. |

Some peoples logic baffles me. A guy decides to cut his legs off and everyone knows he has mental problems. But if some guy goes to the doctor and says he wants his penis cut off he is perfectly normal; He was just in the wrong body. |

The best way you can know how people with this condition really feel is like this: imagine one morning you woke up with four arms, or a tail, or a wing growing out of your back. Obviously, this would feel awkward, uncomfortable, and even sickening, and what better way to feel comfortable again than to have it removed? I've never heard of a treatment to that condition other than to actually have the body part in question lopped off. |
