I don't mind the updates either, agreeing the emperor and anakin did have to be updated, but some like the dancing band was a little overboard. Other than that, was pretty cool with new graphics, and I still like Star Wars. |

If I were the actor playing Anakin in the first version of that last scene, I'd feel kind of insulted, what with being replaced by the talentless Hayden Christensen. |

Wow, they really ruined the originals with the remake crap! The only part that I think is any better is the emperor. He does seem more scary. |

There was no point to "polishing it" (as George Lucas said in the special edition behind thee scenes). It was a waste of money, I can tell you that. |

wasn't the remake released in '97? had hayden christensen already been cast to play anakin in 2002? or am i missing something? i'm probably missing something. |

greedo always shot first they actually made hans reaction much faster in the remake you dont even see greedo's shot as for him missing hey that's why they are such clumsy random weapons i mean blaster accuracy was not something that happened whole lot in the movies :/ |

Agreed: The Jaba scene just feels stupid. It wasn't the best/most necessary part of the original movie and was only made worse in the redo. BUT! WITHOUT QUESTION, the replacing of the "father Anakin" with the "young punk d-bag Hayden Christensen Anakin" is a tragedy. The whole goddam point of the story is that Luke and his father finally come together and the force is balanced etc. The father/son dynamic is CENTRAL to the whole damn trilogy. How does having Luke reunited with the 20 something version of his father achieve that??? The "real" Anakin was always in Darth Vader and therefore died during middle age. Why rewind the clock? Why isn't Obi-Wan Ewan McGregor? Just a stupid move. |

I feel like a lot of the things they did were unnecessary. i didn't mind cleaning up bad shots (like theres this one where they get on an elevator in a new hope and in the original it looks like someone spat on the camera lens) but most of the other stuff just made the movies look corny. I hated the scene in jabbas palace, bleck. |

Thank you! this cleared up some confusion i had.i saw the last one on television a couple months ago and was super freaked out when i saw how similar the actor looked to hayden christensen. i thought it was just a coincidence! ha |

I don't mind the changes so much. Except for Greedo shooting first and replacing Sebastian Shaw with Hayden. Although. The ending Ewok celebration song of the SE RotJ is MUCH better than the original. It's prettier. : ) |

Personally I like the changes (with the exception of greedo shooting first), for the same reason as CrakrJak. It also helps the two trilogies merge into one franchise. |

They left out the sequence in A New Hope when Han runs into the troop of Storm Troopers in the original and in the remake, an entire hangar of them. |

I really, really hated what he did with the band in Jabba's lair, and they didn't even show the more ludicrous elements of it. overall, i give the 'special' edition a great big fat MEH. |

Personally I do believe that some of the aging blue-screen cgi needed to be refreshed with the green-screen modern cgi makes the series of movies tie in better with one another. Replacing the original emporer and the original anakin had to be done. The music and sound were made much better too. |

The movies were great and didn't NEED to be remade. I do understand him wanting to put in all the stuff that he wanted to the first time though. Plus he made himself more money that way. We would all do the same thing if we had the opportunity. |
