how do none of you know this: this was an advertisement for an opera based on the monkey king/son goku epic. the animator of the gorillaz worked on it as well, several portions are animated. and yes, MAYBE it had to do with the olympics.

W00t Sun Wukong - Great Sage, Equal of Heaven FTW! The others are Zhu Bajie (the pig) Sha Wujing (the third guy), all of whom can be found in the Chinese story Xiyouji (Journey to the West), otherwise known as Saiyuki in Japanese. I suspect Hindus viewed Sun Wukong as an incarnation of Hanuman, their own monkey god. And it's in Mandarin Chinese. Cantonese is mostly only spoken by the people of Hong Kong. |
