Heheheheh, it's really sad that you all haven't stopped responding to Converse's bizzare posts <.< I thought it was pretty clear that he was just trying to stir up some trouble, as lets face it, it's drating fun to do so...

Just let the topic die and all will be well XD

I'm saying sometimes the minority needs a voice.

Men can be feminists too, for example.

I'm being to specific when I say racism. Discrimination is what I mean.

That being said, this entire thread is turning out to be a waste of time. Yes, racism is bad. We get it.

how am I being insensitive? I saw the point in your argument and I agree that stereotypes should not be used for racism. Doesn't mean it won't happen. I'm just saying is it worth it to stick up for a bunch of people that don't have anything better to do? Or in some cases, is it worth sticking your neck out at all?

I remember one time an emo girl stood up for herself, and emo kids in general, on youtube. Her chin was huge. She will be forever known as emo-chin.

Converse, let me put to you like this. I don't pull a Jesse Jackson every time my roommates say something the least offensive to any race. I know they don't mean it, and I find some of the jokes funny. Now if someone attacks me directly, yes, I will stand up for myself.

The best example is a white person sticking up for a black person that is just the victim of prejudice/racism. It's more insulting for that white person to do that. Now think of your position. Is it worth it to stick up for a bunch of people that have nothing better to do then complain all day? A better question is do they even want someone sticking up for them in the first place?

deltaumarcus, I think the point is that stereotypes are fine, until they're used to discriminate. Nobody should change who they are just because someone says the should change.

You're just a sh*t
Your dad bought you a Hummer
You're just a sh*t
I almost died in the summer
I lived in a foxhole with rats, mice and fleas while
Gangrene had a party with me

Starving kids in Africa
All sharing a rice grain
Set up a charity for you
You with your iPod, MySpace and cell phone
Tell me again
About the time you got a splinter

You're just a sh*t
With your big house and big dog
You're just a sh*t
Now log off of your damn blog
Take off the makeup and take out both your tampons
Get up off your ass and you'll see

Get a job, you lazy New-Age Simple Plan-listening emo hippie.

I honestly couldn't give less of a f*ck about everyone's opinion, so I'll cross-post something from the last thread that's actually relevant and useful: the lyrics I transcribed.

Think you got it real bad
Always acting so sad
Bitching and complaining to all
I hear you cry yourself to sleep
With all the other sheep
I feel awfully bad for you
With everything that you have been through
And then I think

You're just a sh*t
You're (18 / a teen) and Caucasian
You're just a sh*t
Not of the gay persuasion
No-one in your family was brought here by slave ship
So who's been persecuting you
You're white

You should meet my buddy Jack
Who's off fighting in Iraq
Dodging mortars and RPGs
Or I could tell ya 'bout his Dad who
While in Dien Bien Phu
Lost his leg and part of his 'nads
But I'm sure he's sympathetic to you
And he would say

itsallfake, thank you. Thank you so damn much. That is not sarcastic. Honest. I read this entire thread and all I can say is why is there such a fight about it? If you don't want to be defined by a stereotype, then redefine yourself. I know I'm just saying the same thing as itsallfake, but still. It's a damn good point.

Alice, discrimination happens, like it or not.

It's just up to the brave few to step in and say 'hold up a sec, lets not get carried away'.

By not doing that, anyone involved in the discussion, whether they choose to take part or not are bad as each other.

Not saying anything is as bad as letting it go on.

I think even the silent few need a voice...if I'm the only hope they have then I'll take the stick for it. It just makes me feel better for trying than to let this stupidity go uncontested. Everybody here was happy to sit back and agree that the 'emo' culture is in some way wrong.

I don't care if you care whether or not I stick up for people. But if someone starts discriminating against 'goths', I'd be the first to jump in and say 'hold up a second'.

Because I care that whether or not the person is there or not, discrimination is wrong, and there's not a chance in hell that I won't make myself heard.

i take a couple of days off and this poo starts up again? Listen up, and i mean it this time. If you let music, television, movies, radio, sports figures, rappers, celebrities, or clothing designers tell you who you are, then the REAL you can't be found. You are stupid because you let someone else tell you who you are. Dressing and acting like a rapper who has a million dollar record deal when you live in the gheto? stupid, you don't who you are or have any clue as to how you define yourself. Dressing in girl pants and wearing eyeliner and bitching about your life when you live in a 300K home in the suburbs? stupid, your letting some singer/band tell you who you are. STOP IT. Grow a brain and define your self by things that happen to you in life and the environment in which you survive. If you don't like that environment, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Stop pointing fingers and dicking around. and STOP LETTING OTHER PEOPLE TELL YOU WHO YOU ARE.

Could we end the label-discussion? If people want to be emo then let them, they'll grow out of it soon or later.

Even if they don't change then leave them the drat alone. I don't see how they affect your life just by breathing. Your life is just as pathetic theirs.

Haha, trust me, bud, you're not making a difference standing up for emo kids in an IAB comment board. Give up, emo.

"Ohhh, so its okay to discriminate against them? Just as long as they don't argue back, right?"

Sooner or later hun, you're going to realize that the world is a cruel place, and no one is going to cushion the blow when someone tells you that EMO is LAME. Because it is, it's a fact of life. Simply put. Sorry, someone had to say it.

Ohhh, so its okay to discriminate against them? Just as long as they don't argue back, right?

I know my place, I just find it EXTREMELY unfair that a stereotype can be okay, just as long as someone included it isn't listening.
