If I could get 5 cute puppies for every family member that died... well, have you seen the prices that breeders are charging for dogs lately? Besides my mother's side of the family is annoying.

the only way cloning makes sense is on the movie 6th day, except the bad guys were morons there

I voted no, but it's not because it's "playing God" or whatever.
What would be the point? They might look similar, but they're not the same person, and they never will be.
Who would raise them, anyway?
You'd probably be really old by the time they reached the age at which you once knew them, too.
Don't re-hash something that's already been created, make your own! XP

the clone wouldnt have any memories of anything
anything you may have shared with the real person would be lost on the clone so what would be the point of cloning for that reason

See I was going to say yes..it's difficult losing loved ones..

But then I'm reading the comments of some of the other memebers and completely see their points.

What would be the point if it's not the same person with the same memories or same personality?? That is why you loved that person to begin with.

Magic Potion summed it up right here for me: "If I died I wouldn't want to be cloned just so my friends and family had some one else that looks like me but isn't me, only to comfort them in some disturbing way."

Yeah I didn't much prefer the options. My "no" choice wasn't because of morals but because I see absolutely no reason to. The clone isn't the same age, and if it was a baby, there are much cheaper ways to have another one of those.

I agree with marencolleen. I think cloning to help people "cope" would just add to the emotional retardation in this country.

I pick no, but not because it's 'assuming the form of a supreme diety,' but because it's just impractical.

Major questions is, "Why?"

Dunno about you, but I don't need more idiots in this world. Our gene pool is tainted enough as it is.

I wouldn't. Maybe the cloned person would look the same but personality and everything else? NO! Also if I died I wouldn't want to be cloned just so my friends and family had some one else that looks like me but isnt me, only to comfort them in some disturbing way. Put up with it, people die, even loved ones. That's how life works.

the thing is, you could clone them, but they won't be the same person. they will grow up a different way in a different society with different values. you'd be bringing back the body of someone, not the personality. I'm more for stem cell research. clone/create parts of a person to help their quality of life.

why would you clone a boy/girlfriend or a family member, since the clone would be a baby and need the same time to develope as a baby. also a clone does not have the memories of the original anyway,so this poll was dumb.

I think it'd be cool to clone someone.

*looks at current stats that indicate cloning was a-ok*

Alright, guys. Have you ever read any books? Do you not realize what crazy crap would go on with clones? It's more trouble than it could possibly be worth.

Not to mention, how would the clones feel about all this? Being expected to be someone, instead of themselves. They're not going to be clones of that person's personality or memories or feelings. They just look alike.

Bringing useless people back to life? No thank you.

People need to learn to let go of things, and even if we did clone it would eventually end up with Social Darwinists taking over the world.

Link: I-A-B Poll o' the Day: Human Cloning [Rate Link] - In an earlier post, some lady cloned 5 pups from her dead dog's DNA. If you could, would you do the same with a human?
