All it all, it don't matter that all you evangelical non-nice individuals want to stop the wonders that can come from cloning. America isn't the only country in the world ya know. Cloning and stem cell research is in full swing in other places in the world.

Just because America is too backwards and ignorant to give a poo about all the people it could help\save doesn't mean the rest of the world is.

1: You have to be mature to be able to clone sucessfuly. We'd have to be like 20 years old to have a clone, and that would be just a baby.
2:The clone has the same age as you when you take the DNA from you, but younger. So it will die atleast 20 years earlier than a regular person under the same situations.
3: The person would have a different personality, don't think you can go "Dude, I want a clone to play video games with lol!11!!1!!!" and the clone could be a raving maniac that will end up killing you...

Eh, yeah, I'm back.

Cloning doesn't really bother me. If you die and someone clones you.. it is not YOU who comes back. It is simply another person who will look like you. They will not have your thoughts, feelings, memories, and so on. We've done it to animals, why not us? Because we're playing god? He/She/It hasn't stopped us with Dolly so far, and since he hasn't said anything it doesn't mean you get to carry God's word.
But I agree with BlackBum.
That is the bonus to cloning. If they clone you and say.. clones die early due to a defect or something.. you could theoretically harvest the organs. So 10 years down the road when your heart and kidney fails from your heavy drinking.. your clone who you hated can now save your life as his/her organs are identical to yours and therefore genetically acceptable by your body. No meds, no complications.

cloining is not about bringin dead people back to life, they would be totally different persons due to different experiences and memories.

Its about cloning organs and stuff to heal the living.

i don't really mind the idea of cloning, it's just rather stupid cloning someone as they wont be the same as the person in any way other than appearance, and even they they wont look exactly the same. also if i cloned someone who was important to me and died, it would take years to get things back to the way they where and the clone would probably just kill themselves.

TL;DR? cloning only good in theory

i agree with alice_x, narrow choices but w/e...i would love to have a clone of me hanging around my house, it'd be crazy fun! theres good and bad to clones, on the good side we could clone geniuses n what not. on the bad side if cloning got out of hand we could lose our good mutations and never advance further...but i still want a clone of me. oh and also, a clone or its counterpart could commit any crime and get away with it, fingerprints, DNA, video footage, would all count for nothing in the court cause 'I SWEAR IT WAS MY CLONE!'

Moral values aside why would we need an excuse to further over populate the planet. I know the argument has been made a thousand times but I think it is acceptable for cloning indangered and recently extinct species (NO not dinosaurs)

and i don't think it's right to use clones for just replacement parts. CLONES ARE PEOPLE TOO

it MIGHT look similar to the person but it would be starting off as a newborn, therefore going through entirely different experiences, and would have an entirely different personality. i wasn't able to answer this with the choices given. i would be fine with it, but it wouldn't be a replacement person, it would be the same as having a child of my own, which to me, rules out the 'playing god' because it's just having a baby without the need of a spouse.

How can ANYBODY justify cloning humans?
Seriously, you think you can make an exact replica of someone?
We're all subject to outside influence. Me growing up in the 1970s wouldnt be me. Me growing up in the 2020's wouldnt be me.

Come on people, have a bit of logic here.

Yea, replacement parts are fine.

But cloning humans would
1)Be playing god, but humans have been doing that forever anyways so I don't really care about that
2) Reduce genetic diversity (so when Avian Flu finally comes along, we'd have a higher chance of being wiped out)
3) Refer to any science fiction book or movie with a clone in it. Never turns out well does it? (except for House of the Scorpion, but in there we already have a country named after a drug, so we were already screwed)

I'd like to make 100 clones of FANCYLAD, then I'll have the minions to do my bidding and I'll soon take over the village.

Maybe not for bringing back a person, but make a clone for replacement parts would be fine.

i think cloning people is just fine, but sorta pointless. Because yes the person will be genetically identical to whomever its a clone of but his or her personality could be totally different. Our personalitys are based partly on what our DNA says yes, but also it's what happens in our life. Yes, you may clone someone whos 82 or whatever but the clone will be 82 (or more) years younger than the original therefore, not seeing the same things that the original person has. So while the 82 year old saw a war come and go, the newborn clone hasnt. And what if this new clone gets raped or something. Dont you think that would change his or her personality? Basically im saying while no i have no problem cloning someone, i find it pointless because the personality would be different

Let's just clone all the cute, smart, altruistic people. Let the fat stupid ugly self-important self-centered arrogant serial rapists and murderers just die the #%@! off. (especially the fat ones)

I'd have a clone all the way man. Then when I'm 45 I can have his liver, and continue with the hard drinking but from square one...

No, you may be able to re encarnate somebody but they will not have the same personality. animals, its a different story, they dont talk and interact with people like we do, it just wouldnt be the same with a cloned family member.

And if a family member was cloned would they die (again)? Or would they be a clone forever?

ok think of it from the clones view, 99/100 clones are disfigured and its a bad for them. it took 100's of attempts to make a sheep clone, so are you willing to kill 100's of babies?

I'd rather not clone the dead. That speaking for only myself.
