That is total crap, just a bunch of stupid morons jumping on everything they can to stir up $hit. That is about as racist as a jar of jelly.It's a scientific term for an object that is BLACK. It was a hole that is black long before there were people on this earth. What should we call it now? An African American hole? If we do, what about people of color from other nations? They'll get offended for being left out. Get the f*ck over it, that's pathetic. |

...can't......stop....typing.......My Liberian friend, who actually *is* African-American, does NOT prefer the term. He is black. So is another fellow I know from Zambia (I think)...he, also, is *black*, and will correct you if you call him African-American. Also...funny story...I was in London with a couple of colleagues, and we were meeting with a team over there...one of the guys there was black. One of my fellow Americans referred to him as African-American about three times before the guy said <British accent ON>, "Why do you keep calling me African-American? I am neither!". Good times...good times. |

Myxgyglplx, that's why the term African-American isn't PC anymore. Not everyone who's black comes from Africa, nor are they all Americans.
These commissioners are just trying to start trouble. They know that by starting this up as an issue, they'll gain enough support to make one white guy, perhaps all white guys, look foolish.

God help me...I'm on a rant now...Next time anyone you know claims to be *anything*-American, ask them a few questions about their supposed homeland. This applies across the board, not just to "African" Americans. I've had lovely conversations that nearly came to blows with some of these: Girl: "I'm Czech-American!"
Me: "Really?! Name a country that borders the Czech Republic?"
Girl: <starts to get dizzy> Guy: "I'm African-American!"
Me: "Really?! Name a country in Africa!"
Guy: "What?! Africa!"
Me: "Yeah...I know. Name a country there."
Guy: "Africa *is* a country, a$$hole!" Girl: "I'm Irish-American!"

Wow. How utterly stupid.3 things: 1) Baelzar, I remember this idiocy. You beat me to posting the link...good job.  2) This entire controversy is straight out of an old episode of "The Jeffersons" (an old American sitcom of the late 70's, for those who don't know). George Jefferson got completely bent out of shape because of terms like "black sheep", "white Christmas", etc...much like this corn-rowed gangsta-lookin' councilman in Dallas. 3) Coranthulle - Last time I checked, white people were not white, either. coranthulle has more eloquently expressed part of what I meant by "an inaccurate and wholly pointless description", but it goes much further than being an inaccurate desciption of skin colour. It is an inaccurate, often ludicrously inaccurate, description of skin colour, but as an identification of an entire person it's, to be blunt, insane. The real problem is not an inaccurate description of a colour, nor is it a *wholly unrelated* use of complete darkness to indicate something bad, which probably stems from sight being of such importance to humans, so important that darkness often causes fear. The real problem is defining people by the colour of their skin. Using a completely inaccurate desciption of it stems from the wish to divide humanity up into discrete groups that don't really exist, which obviously serves only to promote irrational prejudice. So the man who complained is in fact part of the problem he claims to be opposed to. Which makes him even more |

LMAO I was at my friend's house and he was making fun of me for being arab and he's black and my white friend came in and said the black guy was being racist, wich he denied. I said, "That's right, because it's only racist if your black!"we were being racist all day and it just so turns out i see a link to a n*gger who thinks the OTHER guy is being racist on IAB. delicious. only racist if your black, as in its only racist if your making fun of a black guy. anyone else notice this? |

Last time i checked not one african americans skin tone could accurately be described as trully black. Of the ones that i have had the fortune to meet over the many years of my life throughout the world as a whole. They skin tone would be more aptly described as burnt sienna or dark brown, but never black. The background of this very website is indeed black. Never have i seen anyones skin tone reaching this shade of color. any other shade would not be black, it would merely be gray at or some other dark version of another color but never black. Black is an absolute color just like white. Black is the almalgam of all colors or the complete lack of light(as a color) where as white is the exact opposite. So the very idea of any african american or any other african anything being upset about the use of the color or word black as a form of personal identity is completely retarded and moronic on the part of the individual. |
