Nazarene: For your homework, wikipedia "Market Forces". If that fails to convince you, go visit a gypsy woman who will tell your fortune based on your star-sign.

Keep those blinkers on, Nazarene!

Update: I filled my tank today for under $20. Gas: $1.55/gallon. Crude oil: $49.62 per barrel. Is God awesome or what?

Gas went below $2 per gallon today in some places. That's a 50% reduction since this group prayed. Gas prices have fallen steadily ever since this was posted.

Shouldn't you be praying thanks for having the cash to purchase the petrol, or even having a car to put it in? Idiots believing in religion just to benefit themselves financially...

The price of crude oil/barrel when this was posted = $134.44

Crude oil/barrel today = $122.59

Probably no one will read this, but it's been a couple of weeks since everyone ridiculed these people for praying about gas prices. In that time gas prices have dropped about 40-45 cents/gallon. God is faithful.

Dear Heavenly Father Who Art in Heaven

Please bless the good Christian babies of the world. may they grow up to take control of the US Government. Bless the soldiers in Iraq killing other people for our freedoms which we are volentarily throwing away. And finally bless the hard working people who build my H2.

And we wish to thank you Lord for providing us with the H2 so that we may tranpsport our one child to school through the perils of Honda civics and Toyota corollas. We also wish to thank you for the 90HP boat which transports our family safely across the recreational lake at 60 miles per hour. And for the riding lawnmower which helps us mow our 1/8th acre lawn.
Lord we ask of you a small simple request. Lord if you can find it in your heart to help us out by coming to the Leaders of OPEC and Exxon, and BP and the Futures Traders and lord please guide them into realising that our blessed H2 and Boat and Blessed Riding Lawnmower need this fuel at a cheap price.

Well there is a pattern of people becoming more religious in times of hardship.

Considering I'm an Atheist, I believe prayer is a waste of time. However, the effort is being made. Why are they selfishly praying to their God to drop the price of gas at their own local station? Again, doesn't that seem selfish? Shouldn't they be praying to God to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, and get rid of the wars which cause such spikes in gas price? Perhaps that's too much for their God, as he - despite being so omnipotent - is struggling to drop gas prices, with only a six or seven cent drop so far?

i believe davymid just opened a can of owned. on another note, do you have a superiority complex davymid? youre worrying me. and what happens to your job when i go pick up my electric car in the next few years? yes, my powerplant down the street that will power it is supposedly run by oil, but its not. its natural gas, the other one is coal. yes being a geologist you find my coal, and im assuming nat gas reserves. what happens when they build the wind farm on lake erie? or ramp up output at Davis Bessy Nuke Plant? but who am i kidding, im sure youll also find my uranium. nevermind, i wnated to come to a big conclusion, but i failed. BTW i hope you dont find any more oil deposits, ive had enough of it, i need prices to go way higher. high prices = change. yes $4 gas is low, but over here we are freaking the f*ck out. We were used to $1 3 years ago. Things are changing rapidly, we are importing small cars from europe like its going out of style (*cough* saturn astra). im done.

Take your eyes off the sky, stop mouth-breathing at the clouds, and look horizontally at your fellow humans. We are all here for each other, and we are all we have. If enough people do the same, it might just ensure the survival of our species.

Think about this. F*ck it, let's wax lyrical: I fill your gas tank, I fuel up your planes, and I power your home. If that weren't enough, you know that keyboard thing you hammer on every day? It's made of plastic, along with 90% of the applicances in your house. This internet thing is a system of fibre optic wires powered by electricity from the power plant down the road.

I am the shoveller and the craftsman. I feed your power plant, and I make the stuff you rely on every day.

God is not in charge of the supply. I am.

Right. Nazarine mate, I'm a PhD geologist, and I'm pretty high up in a big oil company which I won't name. My day-to-day job is to find new hydrocarbon reservoirs in the subsurface to keep human society humming along. We find millions of new reserves every year because (along with my fellow geophysicists and reservoir engineers) we work on the basis of a 4 billion year old earth, plate tectonics, evolution theory indicating where to look for new oil source rocks, etc etc et-f*cking cetera. BTW, after 100 years of X-raying the planet with seismic data, gravity-magnetics and electromagnetic logging of flooding surfaces, no-one has ever found evidence of a global flood 5000 years ago which killed every organism on the planet who missed the big wooden boat. If that were the case, we'd pretty well know about it because we'd be (literally) swimming in oil.

This thread's gone cold, but I hope this post might reach some people...

^^ "They didn't miss the theory of supply and demand. They just realize that God is in charge of the supply."

Nazarene, at first i did some lawls as I thought you were being ironical. However, judging by your profile statement as a "devout, conservative Christian" whose favourite movie is "The Passion of the Christ", I realise that you're actually serious.

They should instead pray for amputees to regrow their limbs. Oh wait, they know that will never happen, so they won't bother. Instead, they will pray for something that inevitably changes in their favor and then thank Gawd for it happening. Since this is a repost, it's probably relatively old and the gas prices at that station have since risen. I wonder how they're feeling about that previous victory now.

^^ "If they've got the right to pray for lower gas prices, we've got the right to laugh at them for being such morons."

True, Catbarf. But the reality is even worse than that. Time wasted in useless prayer is time that could be spent actually doing something that might actually help (loved the pic on the previous page).

Pray for good health? Get off your arse and go for a brisk walk instead.

Pray for an end to world poverty? Do some research to find a good charity, and send them a damn cheque.

Pray for an end to AIDS in Africa where over 22 million people today have HIV? Go petition the Catholic Church to stop preaching to African christians who don't know any better that condom use is evil, and is not effective in preventing AIDS

And just to be pedantic for a final point: I suppose all these nut-bars in the video took a bicycle to the gas station to

okay, new theory: their plan is to make themselves seem crazy so the gas companies will give in to their demands. you don't refuse crazy people, you have no idea what they'll do.

It's ridiculous that some people think praying will solve every single problem they have.
