I can tell you three ways a lot faster then this.
1: Push your hand tword the person locking the handcuffs so you have room to slip over your wrist.
2: Break the clip off a pencap and slide between the metal teeth and thelock so the teeth don't lock.
3: The stupided thing ever...go buy a key for 10 bucks.

I'd use this just as a party trick. I'll just run in the door going "poo poo someone help, I need a bobby pin" and they'll go "oh man, what's going on?" and I'll be like all "no time to talk! none! quick!" and they'd give me a bobby pin and I'd pick them, grab a beer and a lady and then like... sweet makeouts? (happily engaged, I swear)

"what if you can't reach your lock pick from the bed?"

dude, you should always hide your lockpick (yes one word.) in your rectum!

It's not the cops with handcuffs I'm worried about, it's the wackjobs with the store bought cuffs.

everyone keeps bring up the point(which is valid, don't get me wrong...) that you won't be carrying these with you when you get arrested, but uh...what do you plan to do if you're uncuffed? judo chop the chops into submission and resort to exile?

Okay, first of all, I think the cop would search you BEFORE putting the cuffs on. Second, it's not like you would have to carry those damn things everywhere in case you got arrested...

Ermm..not quite, Randy. The cuffs are still connected by metal rivets, but the hard reinforced plastic is very durable, and even if you do saw through that, there is still a metal core. (Sorry, my bad - not rubber)

UK cops also back-stack if they have to, but usually when you arrest someone, they're fairly compliant (only drunks, the desperate, well-armed, or the terminally stupid will try to resist arrest). If you have reason to believe that they will be a danger to you, or themselves, then back-stack, but it's easy to control a prisoner with a front stack, while you're holding the rigid bar. Just a twist and they're in agony...(ahem!) .

Mind you, if the s**t is hitting the fan, then whatever works is fine as long as the cuffs go on. I've been witness to some very clumsy cuffings, but only cos the prisoner struggled.

...and any UK cop who stands directly in front of a prisoner is asking for trouble.

Hahaha. This is obsolete as they use security handcuffs nowadays... at least in britain.

Trello: Damn, you guys have it easy. Even if your hands were in a stack position. I mean, hard rubber instead of chain? I'm surprised more people don't just take off, run to their homes, and have a buddy saw the damned things off... then pick the actual cuff. Next you'll be telling me the cops have wooden legs, bulldogs all have rubber teeth and your hens lay soft-boiled eggs.

I always figured the police here in the states cuffed behind the back because it's safer for the cops since you're not facing them directly (can't land a blow with your fists, head butt them, et cetera especially when they pile on top of you to get you down.), makes it difficult to really reach anything in pockets and what have you and it makes things awkward and slow if you want to run.

A few misconceptions, and a few truths here - at least as far as UK Police issue handcuffs & cuffing are concerned...

Randythefool: It's easier & more comfortable to have the cuffs in front. Most UK cops use the front stack position. Hands in front, one over the other (fold your arms, then move your arms an inch apart, and so your wrists are above eachother)

UK Issue cuffs have a rigid hard rubber centre. Not a chain. - Big advantages are that if someone kicks off while you've only got one cuff on, you can control them more easily....

UK cops are also trained to put the cuffs over the soft part between the hand & wrist - comfortable, but hurts like hell if you try to bend your wrist (as in try to pick cuffs)

Still, a cool video if you ever find yourself with a pair of Smith & Wesson handcuffs, not surrounded by cops, and have half a bobby pin to hand....

Next time lets have a video of how to not get caught by the cops after committing a "felony". Shooting out my hated neighbors car tires and windows was just a prank. I didn't even use a real gun!

Ya, this is all great. One huge, glaring problem: many cops don't use handcuffs anymore.
Zip ties are cheaper, easier to use, and harder to get out of (unless you've got some way to cut them). So this video is slightly dated. In principle, it's absolutely essential knowledge. In practice, rarely will anyone have the opportunity to use it.

No there are ways to hide lets say a bobby pin and (unless you get cavity searched, and i dont mean up the butt either) you can hid half a bobby pin. and your only a pervert if they were fluffy handcuffs and even then you have to buy at least 2.

For this to work you would have to carry those items...I don't have hair to wear a bobby pin, they are gonna take the dental tool, and if I had a paper clip in my pocket that means I would have to dig in my pockets which would probably alert them...lol unless you have sh*t load of time and are unsupervised this seems almost useless

This is all fine and dandy for the 1% of people who will be cuffed with their hands facing front, but the 99% of people who get cuffed with their hands behind their back are screwed.

Yeah... except cops are trained to place the cuffs on with the key hole facing the other direction. Not so easy to pick that way!

He has to spend 30 seconds explaining how to break a bobby pin?
