Oh I see nothing wrong with the intent of the war in afghanistan. They want us dead so I say lets kill them first. Logic at it's finest. I am a gun owning believer in personal freedom. I guess that excludes me from the republican and democrat camps ;-P . I also have a little over three hundred novels on my bookshelf all of which I have read. Very few of them are festivals of violence story wise and in fact many of them are frankly non violend. Oh and did I mention the college education. Oddly enough though I own guns, live in the american south, eat pork like it's going out of style and I am kind of fond of living away from major population areas where crime is rampant and people are crammed in like spam in a can. For the most part I dont say yeehaw and yes being a father I do intend to teach my little girl how to handle all sorts of weapons and defense techniques. SO MMMMEEEEAAAAHHHH!!!!! Eat it.

He's a hateful cunuk who's probably never shot a gun and his kid will grow up probably to be just as ignorant and hateful.

Zoneking: Ignorance huh? Let me explain something. I am a liberal gun-owner (shocking, I know) with an IQ of approximately 142. Letting a child fire off a Browning M30 is not going to breed hate. Your kind of narcissistic, sheltered, Oh-so-superior, attitude will however. Teaching a child to shoot is not a terrible thing, it's a bonding moment. You don't just let a kid have at it, spewing .33 cal shells at everything that moves. You instruct them, and bond. Hate begets hate. Love begets love. Which of the two do you want?

The difference is in afganistan they send the children to fight. Here we teach them how to shoot and respect something with so much power thats a difference.I think Jimbo means guns dont kill people, people kill people and people always will with whatever they can use.

You know, what a bunch of hypocrites Americans are...

Here you sit with your CNN and your MSNBC, making such a big deal out of the images sent back of young, adolescent boys holding weapons in Afghanistan... sent out to fight for a belief, and here we have evidence that you do the same thing to your kids... and let me guess, you'll all come back on me and defend it to the end... you know what? You're no better than they are.
Teach your kids to love, and they'll love the world. Teach your kids to hate, and they'll hate the world. Call it what you want... but teaching a child to use an automatic weapon is breeding hate.
Those weapons are used for one thing, and one thing only, and it certainly isn't game hunting.

Ignorance... pure unadulterated ignorance.

Bombs, guns, cancer etc. don't kill people! It's the death that kills them! Man, it's so simple! Thank's [DLM]Jimbo for this outstanding piece of philosophy!

Thanks Jimbo a european without their head up their a55 what do ya know. I've been to one of these before and dont knock it until you try it it's very fun as for the no recoil comment trust me if it isnt mounted it's going to ride up on you fast as for the people saying this is why so many people get shot thats bull these are class 3 weapons meaning you have to shell out all sorts of fees for the permit and then pay a buttload for a gun get put on a list with the ATF and own a FID for at least 5yrs so crimes with these pretty much dont exist it's much easier to do illeagal activity with an illeagal gun.

Thank you for showing people that there is little to no recoil on those guns, it pisses me off how when you're playing FPS you can only get off two shots before your camera is everywhere.

Which guns are you referring to? The HMG's that are mounted and tripod stabilised and would be a bit of a mission to carry, never mind fire outside of a fully supported position? or the twin SMG's that you could quite clearly see would be spray and pray weapons.

(Just watch their arms shake like heck when they're firing and tell me how that isn't going to reduce accuracy after the first shot)

On a less serious note... (and I'm amazed neither of these have been said so far...)

1) Guns don't kill people, death kills people

2) This is the reason why nobody will ever seriously try and invade America. When your local neighbourhood can get together enough firepower to take down a small army, imagine that multiplied by America. You're just going to fail before you start.

I also like Oreo's viewpoint too long to copy + paste, but essentially, yes. It's parent spending quality time with their kids. I personally find that preferable to dumping them in front of a TV/games console and the parents nipping off to the pub or whatever leaving the kids to fend for themselves, maybe hurl abuse at em occasionally, etc.

Also as a follow on from the previous mail that ties in with this one, that kid will have been told fiftybillion and one times things like 'never point a gun at people' 'use the safety catch when not firing' 'your finger is the best safety catch there is' etc.

Better to be taught how to respect weapons rather than say, be caught up as a child in gang warfare and be told to go pop a cap in someone they don't know because if you don't, they'll shoot you first. 'That' I find more disturbing.

I like this this statement as it takes things from a different perspective that nobody would normally think about

^^First of Afghanistan is typical of most 3rd world dirty backwards nations promoting poverty, a lack of self wealth and dignity. The difference between the child in the video and the deprived children of such nations like Afghanistan in that the American will be educated with the respect for the destructive nature of firearms and the responsibility to preserve life, liberty and freedom.

This teaches people to 'respect' the destructive power of these things. Like letting kids drink whilst they're young so they can learn how to drink responsibly rather than getting to 18 (or 21 in America I think) and going absolutely nuts and out of control. When a kid in America grows up with guns like this, they'll already be well and truly trained in how to operate weapons safely.

Who cares about the 'why' ?

Guns are legal. machine guns are legal with certain permits. Like anything else, if you don't like the laws, vote.

I live in Alaska, where as long as you can legally carry a gun openly (ie. not a felon and not into a Government building ,etc) you can carry concealed.

I'll NEVER have a gun held to my head again without one of us going home in a body bag. If I felt the desire to possess a machine gun, I'd do that too.

Do you find it disturbing when a child spreads butter on a piece of toast. They would be holding a knife and using it as it was intended and since knives are a weapon then they must inherently cause violence. Guns are tools to be used in the right situation for the right reason. They are not evil. As far as the kid well hell her dad was with her the whole time and I'm pretty sure that the little .22 cal mg is a fixed forward firing weapon which cannot be turned on anyone so meah! More to the point how often do we hear that lack of parental interaction is the cause of all societies ills and yet here we have a father spending time with his little girl and teaching her a skill which when combined with the leasons about responsability and consequences that are inherent to firearms training that will do nothing more than make her a responsible adult? Horrible and disturbing that they are still turning out americans instead of american made euro trash.
