Okay, maybe the camera dude was being provocative; he might even be looking for a little drama to heighten his career.

The policeman? The guy is--unfortunately--the archetypical cop--arrogant, pushy, and a bully. I know cops put up with a lot of poo, but to, pardon the pun, cop an attitude isn't professional. I can't remember all the rude cops; sadly, I remember the few who were polite and not threatening.

Remember Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle? Kumar pretty much said it all about some cops.

Granted, cameramen are pushy, but lots of cops just plain SUCK. Comes with the personality required to do the job. And no.. never been in trouble with one, just knew too many of the douchebags personally. Can anyone say "Short-man Syndrome?"

What did Bugs Bunny teach us?! Always go LEFT at Albeqerkey (or however you spell it, soz). Now we know why. They've got crazy coppers that don't speak at all and just go mental on you like thugs completely at random.

Unless the cameraman was pulling faces or mouthing 'yo mamma' insults at him. Then I'd be unbiased.

I thought they both behaved unprofessionally. The cameraman was incredibly snotty and rude. The cops were dealing with a gunman running around and should not have had to tell the guy more than once to get out of the way. But, I don't know if the cameraman broke the law. They both behaved badly.

Cameraman was a complete douche bag. Cops are risking their lives having a shoot out and all the camera guy gives a poo about is his job and footage.

99 percent of police officers are not bad, they are committed to service to the public and their job but the other one percent are power tripping control freaks like the officer involved in this incident. He was thinking to himself "How dare this guy ignore my commands, I will show him.", even though the command he was giving him was not a legal command. Sad thing is it is the one percent that we hear the most about...but even one percent is too many. When I was hired on the police department I had to go through 2 different psychological exams and a personality exam (that changed right before I was hired because of all the civilian complaints and the termination of 5 officers in 1 month for official misconduct). The majority of departments out there do only a personality exam and that leads to abuse of power because they are not weeding out the bad eggs.

Thomas Jefferson once said "All authority belongs to the people." as well as "When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty." We have been turned into a tyrannical society being led by criminals. And finally urbanlegend, the last time I checked giving attitude to a cop was not a reason to get attacked and arrested. Anyone who wants to say I am a police basher I will nip that in the bud...I was a police officer for over 4 years and I left because I got tired of the constant abuse of power that I saw. Peoples rights being trampled on, people being coaxed to confess to crimes and people relying on a system that is flawed. I was actually told one time by a superior that I did not have to read anyone I arrested their Miranda rights as long as I noted it on the report. I politely refused that order because I supported the rights of the accused, remember we are all innocent until proven guilty.

You call me an idiot Victim but you proved my point with your reply...like I said keep acting like a good little sheep...follow your master right to the slaughter. And now I will reply to idiotkiller. The police do have a right to restrict access to a crime scene but where the cameraman was standing is outside the crime scene, in a public location and a location where the general public can gather. You, as a citizen, have the right to observe and even record police activities as long as you are not interfering with either a crime scene or the police performing their job. And as I said in my post not all cops are bad but we need to be informed of and exercise our rights. We are slowly becoming a police state. We are being told by our government "it is ok to give up some of your rights because we are in a battle against terrorism. We are becoming a society of sheep. Don't question authority just do as we tell you to do.

Yes, if what the media is saying about the event is true, he needs to be fired, as does every cop who does something like this, but there's no reason to suddenly assume that we're living in the middle of a police state just because a few abusers slip through the system.

The police have the right to restrict access to the scene of a crime. Sounds like most of the people on IAB are cop hating morons. let's look at numbers. We get, at the most, one of these incidents every week. there are about 663,565 police officers in the U.S., but we'll round that down to 660,000 to make it nice and even. Now let's take the last ten years. there are about 53 weeks in a year, 530 weeks in the past ten years. So in the last ten years, you get less than 0.1% of the police involved. that's one in one thousand. And that's being extremely generous after taking 3,500 off the total number of officers, and assuming something like this happens every week. Don't try to play the "well I'm sure more stuff like this happens that isn't covered by the media" card. Every time something like this happens, the media covers it, magnifies it, and enhances it like a celebrity vagina, with about the same amount of popularity with the masses.

seriously? they are going through with the citation? thats ridiculous. He had every right to be there. the cop should not have done that and deserves to be fired/or on probation.

Well Victim I am happy that you act like a good little sheep and follow the herd but some of us prefer not to have our rights trampled on. I bet it some guy named Bubba decided to put a little sugar up your a$$ you would sit there and politely take it, all the time telling him how nice he is and how you are lucky that he chose you. Wait until you run into an officer who abuses his powers and we will see if you will change your tune, but until that happens keep acting like a good little sheep.

Yeah, cause me being polite really does make me a sheep.

Maybe more people should be sheep if that's the case. Idiot.

"ACTUALLY, Korematsu v. US(1944) reserves the right of congress to abridge your rights and due process in the interest of "national security". So actually yeah, the PAt.Act has free reign to infringe one your civil liberties.i.e. freedom of speech. Why don't YOU know what YOU're talking about."

The "Korematsu v. US" case during world war 2, in which it forced Fred Korematsu to be put into a relocation camp. Although some of his liberties were outweighted, it was for national securitiy because of fear of espionage by Japanese Empire. Which had happened with Pearl Harbor. Although some of his rights were disabled, freedom of Speech was not one of them. Also, a camreman filming a cop does not fall under a threat to National security, so none of his rights were revoked. Plus, this case does not coincide with the patriot act. I do know what im talking about

Oh and another side note I forgot to say also is I saw the officer who was fired about 2 months ago....working security at a Wal-Mart, driving their little security truck around the parking lot...I felt bad for the guy but he chose his own destiny.

Hey! Guess what.

I'm not a complete f***tard toward cops, and I've never got the smack down put on me by one either.

See how that works?

I guess the moral to my story is not all police officers are bad but we need to know our rights as citizens. Funny side note is the other officer (the one who helped me) and I are good friends now...

threw the phone on the ground and broke it). The sergeant called the chief of police to the scene who watched the video and suspended the guy on the spot. It was a beautiful thing watching him having to give up is gun and badge then have to call someone for a ride home because they took him car also. He was terminated about a month later and was charged with battery causing bodily injury because when he handcuffed me he sprained my shoulder. While this was going on they tried to suspend the other officer for 30 days. I told the chief of police that the other officer is the reason why the sergeant was called and ultimately him to the scene. I told the chief that if they tried to suspend the other officer that I would file a civil lawsuit against the department for what happened to me. I agreed that I would not sue the department on 2 conditions, they replace my cell phone with a brand new one and that they other officer gets no discipline at all. They agreed to both.
