caboose117: In the case of autists/Aspergers kids, the funds spent to "help the retards" may just amount to the same thing as funds spent on the gifted. Many autists are just as smart or smarter than Joe Average, they just lack the ability to understand "normal" social interactions.

As for the video, it's all a normalist conspiracy. You get kicked from the team if you're too talented, you get voted out of school if you're annoying. Everything deviating from the norm is to be treated with mild suspicion and/or hostility.

@ everyone saying it's hard to cope with disabled kids in classrooms:

Did anyone else notice that the mother said "we're in the *process* of being diagnosed with Asbergers"? Because a lot of kids don't really show disabilities like this until they're about this age, so I think it's possible that the child hadn't been diagnosed when they enrolled him at that school, and they maybe just thought he had Attention Deficit Disorder or something, which can be coped with in mainstream schools... It could be that the mother would have moved him to another school anyway once his diagnosis was finalised.

That said, I think that the teacher was utterly out of line... if you have a problematic child in your class, you go to the headteacher and tell them about it, ask what you should do, and usually get in touch with the parent(s) as well. If she didn't do that, then she deserves to lose her job, and I have no sympathy for her whatsoever.

I feel like the teacher was wrong, only in that she went about it in a very bad way. She should have talked with the mother and/or school district about starting or enrolling the kid in a special needs program. It may have been for a selfish reason, but at least it would be something progressive.

I'm not exactly a nice pleasant person or anything...Yeah there's people I hate and all that...but THIS is just so f*cked up I can't believe it.

I want to shoot that (extremely racist word) b*tch in the face like NOW.

Fancylad making fun of the mom = FAIL. You may have "dealt" with children with Asperger's but agreeing with voting him out of the classroom is NOT cool. There are other more mature people in the school that deal with these things, not the brainless 5 and 6 year olds that were prompted by the teacher to vote him out.
That's like putting preschoolers on congressional duties with rich people bribing them. It just doesn't work.

I'm not saying voting the kid out of the classroom is right, it's not, but I've taught kids his age and I've had to deal with a couple of kids who has what this kid has and if I could have voted them out I would have.

Holy crap, fancylad was a teacher?! for kindergartners?!?!?! GASP

I cant believe a black woman would do something like that...This is why I think we overpay teachers. Theyre about as smart as the students. Well atleast public school teachers.

I can see how the mother could be upset, but i think this is entirely out of context... Come on if the teacher openly admitted to the mother and everyone else that she set this special Ed kid up in front of the class and made each individual kid say what they didn't like about mommies little snowflake and then have the class vote him out and then throw him out of the class, do you really think the school would still have her there?
i think this is what went on more like it:
teacher tried discussing with the kids what was wrong Ed and what they thought about it, kids probably didn't like Ed therefore had no pleasant things to say. the only consensus was that the class really didn't want to put up with Ed...
and you know what, i have mental illness and i can tell you that it's not always easy for the class or the individual to be mainstreamed, theres a reason why alternative schools exist.

also i do have a cousin who has aspergers, and i do love him to death and he is family, but i'm not going to lie, he can get annoying and his behavior can become irratic, from being calm from moment to bitting me the next, also he can't eat with the family, something to do with sound coming from many directions causes him to freak out, that's just one of the symptoms and not always a symptom

that and because of this is parents shelter him completely, so you know that gamer who is a complete shut in and doesn't have any social skills, take that and minus the gaming, once i love him to death, but it can be annoying

first off am i the only who noticed the teacher didn't actually say for him to leave, but instead asked where is he going to go?

but i don't think what she is did is right, though we didn't hear her side of the story, cause to every fence(issue) their sides, and the one side is always going to say the others grass(actions) were wrong and inexcusable, and there is your daily dose of metaphor

There's bound to be some problems when you integrate special needs children and those without special needs. It doesn't change the fact though, that this teacher's behavior was disgusting. Then again, I don't know the whole story.

hmmm.... his mom looks pretty good.

(that's the only significant thing written in this post)

also, did you happen to know that for every 5,000 dollars they spend on special needs children, they spend 5 dollars on accelerated children? so 15 year olds taking AP Calculus *ahem* get 1/1000 the support a special needs child gets... although it's nice to help the retards, what happened to moving society forwards?

o yeah, and these numbers were from Time Magazine, look up the article if you want. just in case u think i'm making em up. I'd think i were making em up if i were the reader, but then again i might have made them up. this post is too long.

o yeah and that teacher is prob another one of those teachers that suck at their job. o well. deal with it, we got plenty of their kind. although that is kinda mean, voting him out...
