Now that I have said that, I in NO WAY am saying what this man did is right or acceptable or excusable. We came to a church that had dealt with this kind of thing before, and believe me, it took forever for people to trust that my husband was different and wouldn't betray them. I have seen this happen far too many times. And it makes my husband's job harder each time it happens. But this man is truly no different than any one of us who struggles not to do something we know is wrong or bad for us- no matter what we believe. So I pray for his family and the people who trusted him, and for everyone looking at this situation and losing more and more faith that Christians can have any good in them. It's not about us though. We will fall- we're not perfect. Only through Christ are we made clean, and I believe this man can be too. So that's my thoughts...
Oh, and to all who are saying this happened because he's "sexually repressed"- I'll just say- that's not true with all o |

Hmm... so many thoughts, first being no one is really going to care what I have to say. But here I go anyway-My husband is a minister. We are saddened and disgusted by this. The anger I feel when I hear of yet another church leader doing something so incredibly stupid... But I also, somewhat, understand. When you're in a position of leadership (not just in a church) there is an expectation of "perfection" and that you're not tempted by anything. And sadly, especially in the church, there is little grace or mercy and most leaders feel they can't be honest about struggles they are having. So these temptations keep building and there are little "slip ups" and it becomes a cycle of great regret and vowing to change and then falling again and not being able to ask for help. The risk of being condemed is too great in most cases. So it gets worse and worse and, I believe, the devil gets more and more of a foothold. (continued...) |

RE: an earlier posta box a of magnum condoms... and it wasn't like it was a smaller box either, it looked like a 16 pack... which means 1 of 2 things to me. 1 the box is there to psyche the 13 yo girl out and make her think she's getting a real "stud", meanwhile he's either got a box of normal condoms he will actualy use, or a box of rubber bands. OR he planned on a long visit in which case that girl might not have seen the light day for a while. |
