Grand Theft Auto is pretty fun, a little violent for my taste though. I can't even play it because I get motion sickness. DX

thats so dumb. How is his crime like the game, just because he stole something from a store and was hostile? that means every thief is acting like someone in GTA. So stupid to blame a game for that lol. Ignorance.

No this is not a videogames fault (how you can blame a video game for anything is beyond me) this a case of a crazy fuc.k with pepper spray. People, Sometimes born stupid.

matchstick:"Those guys are in EVERY GUY, and games like GTA let them be that way in a constructive way instead of a destructive way."

too true - look at call of duty 4 - i love that game! i havnt played gta4 but some of my friends have and they havnt gone all homicidal maniac on us yet, even though some of them are under 18 and so shouldnt technically have the game [then again they're only 16/17] and the media is obviously wrong as our tiny undeveloped minds have not yet cracked and made us put everyone we know through a blender and spray the resulting mess on the nearest wall.
*deep breath in*
there we go, rant over.

this is kinda dumb. i can understand stealing it, cos of all the hype its been getting, but anyone who actually re-enacts something from the game or does something stupid because of it must be completely retarded not to know that IT'S ONLY A FREAKIN GAME!

Whadya mean cartriges? It's only out on PS3 and X360!

But either way, the news can feck off. I love GTA IV and yet I don't stab people and steal cars.

Also, Gregoryn95, I am none of those types of people. I have a social life and have not been traumatised by a muthafeck'n video game.

It's not down to the game, it's down to the retards that take it seriously and think that's the way to behave.

Aye, and games have no proven links to real life violence. If you have just commented something along the lines of "OMG This game is violent it makes people do bad things", then you are clearly an idiot, with the IQ of a doorstop.

I HAVE researched into this pretty in depth for coursework, and there aren't any studies that that show any correlation between crime, and violent video games, or for that matter any proof that violent video games cause the player much more frustration than a sports game.

The media tend to exagerrate things, and your small minds just agree to go along with what they say.

If you are going to try and say that there is a correlation between crime and violent video games, then message me on myspace (available on my profile)
Why does GTA allways get picked on? A lot of it is pretty comical.

I am 15. I have played this game.

It is nowhere near as bad as manhunt, but even manhunt isn't that bad, as manhunt is about the primary human instinct - survival.
If I want to shoot somebody, then I will shoot somebody, and thats my fault, not violent video games.

And video games have pretty much nothing to do with people becoming violent. Unless the game makes them mentally ill then video games are innocent.

Cartridges? You don't really get cartridges anymore. You only get 'em for the DS.

WTFgirl, you still use IE ? Pffff, that's whats wrong.

Also: GTA rocks, and can understand why one would do such a thing.

"Good, I'd like to see this game pulled from the shelves. Rockstar makes quality games, but with horrifically desensitizing content. It's developers like rockstar that are going to ruin the youth of america."

It's an 18 game (in the UK), its not designed for anyone under 18 to play so that argument is void. If parents allow their child to play the game that has nothing to do with Rockstar or the games industry which has quite clearly made a game for over 18s.

I love GTA because it sparks so much interesting discussion, I've probably spent as much time talking about it as playing it!
marencolleen, if your hubbin is really THAT obsessed with this game, but is usually a great guy, that actually says a lot about him IMHO. GTA appeals to guys in a way we don't really get. In real life, guys can't be that kinda wildcard, law-breaker, rebel-type, but there's something in guys that WANTS to be that. Look at Sean Connery, Al Pacino, John Wayne, ALL the movie heroes. Those guys are in EVERY GUY, and games like GTA let them be that way in a constructive way instead of a destructive way. So I'd say let him play, and if he wants to get a little bit "James Bond" in daily life, too? Let him, it's FUN!
You have to give a little and take a little, and video games are like the new sports, or the new wars. Men don't have to go out and kill Carthaginians or wooly mammoths, at least let them kill Officer Tenpenny

And yes, girlgamers DO play GTA. (BellaOnline has one of the best GTA walkthrus, and it's written by a woman) At least until someone makes a series as fun and complex and interesting with a Female lead :)

I've played through 3 of the GTA games, and yeah, they are really immoral, but they are fictional stories ABOUT CRIMINALS, they don't present the characters as heroes, and even young kids see the difference. I mean, how many films and TV shows do we let kids watch that are about BAD people? Sopranos? John Woo films? Even classics like "Rebel without a Cause" and "On the Waterfront" are about BAD PEOPLE. The GTA games are probably the closest thing the gaming industry has to real "ART". (OK, there are games like Final Fantasy as well.) I see this as the next level, and even though I am anti-violence, I'm a Christian, and a feminist, I totally defend their right to pursue this new artform. If you are on the cutting edge, you're going to provoke people, and that's how society moves forward.

Marencolleen, look on the bright side, at least he's not on World of Warcraft XD

Why do the media always give us the impression that everyone is just a brainless zombie who is affected by everything around them dramatically?

We are not all 8 year olds, we should know what's real and what's not. (Or do people really have that little amount of free will?)

I'm sure when Rockstar made the game, they realised that most people can tell the difference between fiction and reality. I wouldn't play it just 'cos I'm not into that kind of game. Besides all that, there's a reason why it has a rating.

Anyway, if you ban GTA the whole economy of my local area will probably crash. Rockstar is a Scottish company.

Where's the drating tazer when you need it. Tell me that's not worth a tazering. Hippies... Damn if I was a cop on that scene I would have dragged him out in front of the camera and showed him it wasnt a game anymore.
