resisting arrest = criminal charge
assaulting a police officer = one-year prison sentence
using a weapon against a police officer (hitting him with the gun) = another criminal charge and one-year prison sentence
now was it worth it?

If you read my comment, the cop was legally assaulting the guy, would you be ok with a nurse arresting you right now unlawfully?

"Profiling?" That's complete crap. If anything happens to a black fellow, it's "racist". Whites get tazered just as much as anyone else. It just doesn't get recognized, because the person is white. This was justified. The guy was talking back, getting all offended because he was too important for a speeding ticket. Anyone else see him swing at the officer? That wasn't a reflex. If that happened in the NFL, he'd be called on it. Cops are just doing their jobs. Attacking a cop is no different than attacking a nurse or a librarian.

3 things that will make life easier.
1) Don't argue with cops.
2) You probably deserve it. Everything is documented on video.
3) Just accept the stupid ticket or arrest. If it's unjust, fight it in court, not on the street.

Happened in Smyrna, Georgia which pretty much blends right into Atlanta.
I side with the cop. The driver finally says, "You know what?! DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO!". So the officer reaches for the drivers wrist to position him facing away so he can either be cuffed or frisked and the driver takes a swing at the officer.
THATS a tazering in my book.

For once on this site, I would love to see a BLACK cop taser a WHITE guy and see how much some of these people scream racism. Or, for that matter, a BLACK cop taser a BLACK guy. It doesnt matter what color the cop or the guy was, he resisted, got tased for it, and thats the end of it. If the cop feels like there is a justification to use his taser, he should be able to use the damn thing without it being some sort of hate crime racist action. This video would not even had made the news if billy-bad-ass
professional football player didn't think that he should be in trouble and just own up to his mistake, give the OFFICER the respect he diserves, get his ticket, and talk shi.t about the situation(like every other NORMAL person) does when they pull away from getting said ticket. He and his friends in the car got what they diserve for being the shi.tty people that they are. VERY JUSTIFIED TASERING!!!

depending on which state this happened in, the guy had the RIGHT TO RESIST ILLEGAL ARREST, and the cop was at fault.

A "lane violation" is NOT driving drunk, it means merging onto a freeway in the striped section instead of the dotted section, being too far left or right of the road, or something similar.

"Lane Violation" is a term that is mostly used by California and some smaller east coast states, which is funny because California is one of the only states that doesn't have a law regarding illegal arrest. This however seems to take place in one of those smaller east coast states, Georgia specifically if you look at the tag on the video. This means what you are actually watching is a guy being illegally arested/assaulted by a cop who brethalized in connection with the crime of the assault.

I'm not saying i see it this way but from the legal precident the DUI case should be thrown out and the cop should be put in jail for a little while.

Umm...
Everytime I see any video of a large black guy they always either get tasered or shot...
I would personally do the same thing to him in almost every situation though...
They always try to get wayyy too close to the cop and don't use their hands right. poo i'd cap him in the knee for raising his voice at me..Id just turn my car sideways first

Funny I have been pulled over for the exact same thing and have never been asked to step out of the car, or had any of the things happen that happened to that guy. Also I am 5'7" and white with blond hair and green eyes, im thinking the cop was a bit afraid of his size and color. only seen one white dude tasered on the net by cops of security and we all know who he was DUDE. just saying....

Burton, you are a very dumb person. There is a cop in this video that is DOING HIS FUC.K.ing job. He pulls over someone for a traffic violation, ask that person to get out of the vehicle(for saftey), the person folds his arms( which any psychologist will tell you is a defensive posture), acts aggressivly towards a man of the law, resists, and gets tasered for doing so. Please tell me how this "person" is the victim. How is it that you people ALWAYS side with the stupid shi.ts in these videos. From the kid skateboarder disrespecting the cop to this one. Everyone always sides with the "victim" in these things. How about you go out everyday to your job where everyone HATES your existance, lies to you, and tries to kill you for DOING YOUR GOD!DAMN! job. Cops die every single die on routine traffic stops because dumb asses like this one feel the need to shoot them after they are the ones that broke the law and got caught.

I will agree that there are some 'bad' cops out there (just like there are bad priests, fathers, mothers, sons, girlfriends, teachers, etc) Doesn't mean all of them are.

But I will refer you to the book "The Lucifer Effect" (How good people go bad) to give you some insight to stuff like this.

All you guys are insulting the cop but let's break this down (black, white, whatever color)

Speeding
lane violation (guessing swerving)
and driving WITHOUT a license

what possible reason could the cop want to arrest him? Esp. depending on any recent vehicular violations he had against him.

You don't have to be drunk to get arrested.

Bingo Fayth, the passengers weren't helping the situation. And the cop was probably scared crapless. He was outnumbered if there was even just one passenger. So you get in some sort of scuffle with a guy what's going to happen, his friends are going to help.

If the cop had a partner with him I doubt anything would have happened at all physically because he wouldn't be so intimidated.

Burton what restrictions against "unlawful-law enforcement agencies" are you talking about
-the police is a legal enforcement agency

I've been pulled over my fair share of times, doesn't mean I'm afraid to drive home at night. Cl

"To make the statement "cops are the scourge of the earth" because you know of a few of them that have misbehaved is every bit as prejudicial and wrong and ignorant as saying "black people are all thieves" because you know of a few black people who robbed a store.
To people who say they hate the police, think for a few minutes how things would be without any police.

Put simply, anyone who believes that most cops are bad people is on par with any racist, gaybasher, misogynist, you name it. Ridiculous."

Bravo! I agree totally. Let's see what happens when one of these cop-haters needs one.

oh no doubt hank, i personally know a few very nice cops, personally and from... legalish stand points...

all i know is that the restrictions that were supposed to be put into place to protect us from an unlawful-law enforcement agencies have... diminished... pretty dramatically too...

as civilians we shouldn't be afraid to drive home at night, in fear that we'll be pulled over out of the blue, I don't think anyone who HAS actually gone through this will disagree...

I know, that's why it's funny. The "passengers" can be the main thing that got the cops angry...haven't you seen Chris Rock's instructional video on how not to get beat down by the cops?
http://youtube.com/watch?v=uj0mtxXEGE8
Plus I just suggested it, so I hope it comes up soon.

I think that when he grabbed him unexpectedly, it was a gut reaction to flinch and push him off. Either way, cops are like little chihuahuas...they just antagonize the situation and I wish he would would have punched the cop or actually done something to warrant his tazing. Then it would have been tit or tat.

hee hee.....tit

MadP, if a cop grabs you, you're obliged to comply. They don't have to announce 'you're under arrest' and they don't have to read you your rights until you're in cuffs. Crossing your arms could be a threatening gesture, because of side holstered guns.

Also, the report isn't complete. It's possible that the passengers were drunk off their collective ass and telling the cop that the guy behind the wheel could take him down. If he would have complied, he probably would have spent a couple hours down at the precinct while they ran his plates, gotten a ticket, and walked away a free man. But now he's probably going to be up for obstruction of justice and resisting arrest because he shoved the cop away.

Well said MadP. I don't think I've seen a 'taser' video yet where the pigs were justified in using the thing. Another thing, I'm guessing the taser doesn't just grab your clothing velcro like so it must be a dart or something that actually sticks into you. Probably a bit like getting shot, though not quite so damaging, what if you have a heart condition though?
