Monday, November 24, 2008 12:10:44 AM Moonsteal72uhm... question... wasn't the bible created way back when when people didn't know jack about the world? ________________ Try reading it sometimes before you make pointless conclusions. It's not all about the world, but some parts just tellings of what happened at the time. Wow, I'm surprised this turned into a debate on religion.

Sunday, April 20, 2008 4:18:12 PM Creationsism and Intelligent Design are not science. These people already have a conclussion and are looking for ways to verify it. That's the exact opposite of the scientific method. It's reverse forensics. Go ahead and teach creationsim...but do it in a philosophy class. BrainBits - Tomato Sauce and Meatballs? Are you sure you're a fundamentalist and not a Pastafarian (Flying Spaghetti Monster)? |

Saturday, April 19, 2008 9:29:28 PM Honestly, I would perfectly fine with teaching multiple theories of creation in classrooms. It takes as much faith to believe in evolution as it does to believe in intelligent design. Most individuals have no idea why they believe evolution; they simply trust that scientists know better than them, and then scoff at the "religious nuts" who are also putting faith into a higher authority. Also, before simply arguing that believers in ID have no idea what they are talking about, I suggest actually doing a bit of research into the topic. Read more here: http://www.intelligentdesignnetwork.org/... Lastly, I would like to point out that ID is not the most important controversy in our country. However the world was created, it's here now. I would focus more attention on what happens after you die...that's the thing you can control, and need to seriously consider.

Thursday, April 17, 2008 8:13:29 PM Turiski, theories are usually called theories for a reason. The theory of relativity IS just a theory. Granted it seems to hold true in a lot of cases, but it's just that...a theory. I've had to study it in atomic physics, and there are some parts that I can't help but think is complete and utter bullpoo. Also gravity, so far, is unexplainable. We know how it works, but we don't know what it is. |

Thursday, April 17, 2008 9:14:47 AM Science and creationism are both fundamentally based on certain things that must be taken for granted. Scientists cannot go any further back than some millionths of a second into the Big Bang, creationists cannot prove that God exists. However, both sides can point to an amazingly high number of "coincidences" and deduce certain theories to match their experiments and data. *wink wink* Personally, I am more inclined to believe in science because at least scientists are attempting to understand the nature of the universe (God, or whatever you would like to call it), whereas creationists simply leave it all up to an archaic religion that has done a lot more harm in this world than good. |

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 8:04:43 PM And now for my practical opinion on the video:"..." wow. That was the worst bit of propaganda I've ever seen. The sad part is it probably works on some people. *sigh* |

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 7:58:20 PM Oh, and I forgot the minor detail that in science, theory has a different meaning than in English vernacular which implies a very high degree of certainty. Here are another couple of things that are 'still' only scientific theoriesAtomic Theory Germ Theory Theory of Relativity Gravity Theory So think about that before you pull out the old "Just a Theory, Just a Theory" response. |

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 7:50:15 PM While at my core I am a Christian, I'll be the first to say that this is beyond stupid. Because if you teach Christian creation stories, than don't you have an obligation to teach Buddhist, Aboriginal, (god help us all) Scientology, and the hundreds of native creation stories? And if you do all of that in a science class, what WOULDN'T you have time to do? Genius! But this teacher has some serious mixed up priorities if she wanted job security: there are plenty of schools where you can't get fired to save your life... Massachusetts, maybe? |

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 7:42:54 PM 'This demonstrates the indoctrination of our public schools. Even though two different and equally valid THEORIES exist (get that? Evolution is only a THEORY), only one is shown to be "right."'Actually, there's more than two theories- you seem to be just counting evolution and the bible's take on the origin of life. Other religions have different creation theories, you know. If you're going to bring religion into class, I don't think its fair to educate about one religion's viewpoint and not the others. |

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 5:36:56 PM my old friend, when in elementary school, learned evolution in science class and creation in religion class. i think that is how it should stay. the school should hire a religion teacher to teach ID. or maybe just drop evolution from science class? evolution is just a theory amongst many about our origin. And why is there a scientology chanel advertisement on this site. god i hate them. |

It's not like those are the only two options. |

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 3:27:47 PM This demonstrates the indoctrination of our public schools. Even though two different and equally valid THEORIES exist (get that? Evolution is only a THEORY), only one is shown to be "right."Disregarding that, however, this is very poorly done. Who is going to believe a creepy video with scary music and weird subliminal message cartoons? Also, the very fact that this woman would act in such an immature fashion, writing sentences on a blackboard and belittling her students' religious beliefs so flippantly should be red flags that this woman is untrustworthy. She's doing it for publicity, and she seems like a very cruel teacher. As a public school teacher, she should recognize and respect the differing, VALID, opinions of her students. |

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 3:55:45 AM I did Religious Studies at A Level and part of it was religion and Science. I can't even remember what we did it was that bad. I think that if they have to teach about creationism in science class maybe they should teach evolution is church. It's only fair. religion is for religious studies and science is for science. |
