Thursday, April 03, 2008 3:14:25 PM You do realize that the very poorly written headline actually states that the orgins of paganism where found in christianity. If you said "Paganism found to be the origin of Christianity," that would be correct.Go back to school thanks. |

Monday, March 31, 2008 2:14:42 PM "you know if someone believes in God why ruin it. Truly I think people who have religions such as christianity are easy to get along with and make living much easier. I mean they are more trustworthy, forgiving, and happy than the normal joe. Ignorance is bliss so come on just live and let live."Seeing as the normal joe is christian, it would be kind of hard for Christian to be happier than themselves. And ignorance of vaccination and flushing toilets and architecture does not cause happiness. Eradicating ignorance through discovery is the only thing that has ever advanced mankind. |

Sunday, March 30, 2008 11:07:00 PM Nothing I say or do will "ruin it" as far as someone who is truly committed body and "soul" to some form of belief or other. maybe it will make them strengthen their belief, maybe weaken.. You can be certain, however, that people without some agenda or other that they wish you to comply with on pain of "going to hell", are easier to live with. |

Sunday, March 30, 2008 9:51:48 PM When did the word "work" morph into "T C of N" ? I mean, how much have you actualy read? I went to school in Malvern and studied in Worcester, it was practically jammed into our eyesockets, then, when I was a bit older, I could actually compare it to great works of literature, it simply paled. And good for you both, you have a couple of dates on the calender you set aside to remember stuff. I'm glad, However, I just try to be a good person 365 days of the year, without trying to shove my worldview into others faces. Good luck with that. |

Sunday, March 30, 2008 8:45:45 PM HA staberind! you ignorant fool. C.S. Lewis is a great writer! He DID write other books besides the Chronicles of Narnia. I don't really celebrate Easter or Christmas. I use it as a reminder that He died on the Cross and that God sent his Son down on earth. |

Sunday, March 30, 2008 8:07:28 PM How can you call Jesus names if you don't believe in him? lolhttp://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/author... Lawlathiests A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word, 'darkness' on the walls of his cell. C. S. Lewis

Sunday, March 30, 2008 7:36:02 PM that doesnt change that christianity used alot of pagan elements and essentially stole most of its ideas and holidays from paganism while at the same time going and burning the pagans at the stake for heresy |

Sunday, March 30, 2008 7:19:49 PM Wow, leave it to some arrogant historian to take American Idolatry and Commercialism and turn it into blasphemy. Christmas trees and easter eggs have nothing to do with Christianity. Read the bible... lol |

Sunday, March 30, 2008 6:03:36 PM Great, another atheist website that tries to debunk Christianity with unrelated facts. And it's funny how they didn't even take the Old Testament into account. |

Sunday, March 30, 2008 5:27:29 PM I hear more and more christians who refuse to celebrate Christmas because of it's pagan origins.. It might sound idealistic, but why wait until certain times of the year to be generous, loving, and to show other people good will.. Why not do that every chance you get?? Yeah, I know..tra la la.. |

Sunday, March 30, 2008 4:26:46 PM I meant Yule as in Winter Solstice. Sorry, I often use the two words interchangeably in these situations. And to everyone who says otherwise, Angilion and I are right; from what is written in the Bible, scholars can and HAVE concluded that Jesus was born in early September. |

Sunday, March 30, 2008 4:24:48 PM No one really cared WHEN Jesus was born; all early Christians cared about was when he died and rose from the dead. That's why there's not much about his birth other than the manger story. Up until Christianity became a big enough power to hold sway in a political community, did they (the church) decide to place Christ's birth near the Winter Solstice so that those celebrating Saturnalia would in turn be celebrating Christ's "birth". Or something like that. I'm wretchedly sick right now so my thinking is a little fuzzy. |
