Sure, I can see where one would think it's brainwashing, but it is a Christian group after all, not some crazed teacher taking a field trip from a public school.
Sheesh, I can't believe that this topic takes so much space.
Joey12: evolution is taught in school, but not as a fact. Simply that most scientists accept the theory of evolution and students can believe whatever. So it's not like tests will test how the Earth formed, but merely what the theory of evolution says about it.
Seriously, people, there is no need to attack and insult people who actually have a religion.
And I refuse to join this debate on whether creationism or evolution is true, because I know I will convince nobody, since this is the internet, and I will merely get attacked like crazy. I believe in the bible, by the way.Haha, yeah, I heard that the T-Rex is a vegetarian. |

How can people ACTUALLY believe that???I was really expecting the onion symbol to come up at the end or something! I mean sure, believe in "God" if you want to, just DON'T contribute to Americans' ignorance by telling children that evolution is all "fairytales" (when that's EXACTLY what the Bible is)! |

snow113: I think this is brainwashing.. he is planting them with creationist ideas at an early age - the kids have no mean to defend themselves by, as they are not old enough to have BOTH sides of the story.. the man is telling them what is right, and he answers all of his questions himself (in case any kid would disagree with him)

Well, the brainwashing has to start early!!!!It surprises me how their reasoning is. They don't believe in modern science, which has been proven to a great extent, but they'd rather believe some book and testaments written by people with NO backed up reasonings, and biased claims... I personally believe in evolution and in God. I believe he created matter, which eventually was involved in the Big Bang, which eventually created humans...and so forth...I don't think this brainwashing is as bad as many of these posts are claiming it to be. I think that it isn't necessarily the greatest thing (my opinion), but it isn't like they are brainwashing them to become murderers or something. |

i could respond yet again but its all good...im tired of typing 1000 characters every time i respond here... i have my own set of beliefs and values that i obtained through my faith and parents.. i am aware of the theory of evolution and have learned quite a bit about it during my freshman year but it doesn't mean much to me...what more can you ask for? i am easily capable of being open minded but i don't need my beliefs shot down and others shoved down my throat...as long as that doesn't happen i am usually willing to talk |

@ Dejablues - Think about what I said. A person of logic wouldn't convert because he was near death, unless he was very weak-mined and impressionable. And let's face it; most Atheists aren't very impressionable at all, and most of us were raised in Christian or Jewish households. |

Has anybody accused someone else of being Hitler yet?I hate discussing God. Personaly, I think such things are just myths and fancy stories, but if I say that then people try and change my mind. I really think it's just drilled into your head when your a kid, making it near impossible to see the world in any other way. I have to go to a babtism on Sunday and those always feel like some kind of voodoo ritual. I can expect a day of my parents trying to "save my soul". |

Dude, you can't really say Believing in God makes you a good boy. Apart from the holly Inquisition (not just the spanish part, all of it) Mjustin pointed out, you could count the Crusades (If you think like me that the first 3 or 4 crusades had a point, you can't possibly understand why the church sent their armies to kill other christians); and you could count quite a few popes that were a little of a douche; half of the christian world is utterly insane and kill just for the kicks. White Christian Supremacy in The US: there's a group of people you could really count on being nice chaps. And the only people who claim everything else to be false is Christianity. And I say this as a Catholic, so JUST UP |

Well, i'm bored of reading. But i want to say this:
It's idiotic for us to discuss wether or not religion is stupid. One's faith is not to be put on trial, because it's faith, not facts. but you can't ignore scientific facts because a damn book says otherwise. The bible is a book to be interpreted, not taken literaly. And on the other side, Atheist who call themselves "gnostics" without knowing exactly what that means bash on religion just because they don't understand it either. It's just as retarded as half the american population |

@ Joey12 - A few points I should make.1) Read my post on page 23. Teaching evolution in schools is far different and is NOT brainwashing. When they teach you evolution in school, they couldn't care less if you believe it to be true. They only care that you know about it. They also don't try to falsify your belief in anything else. They don't sit there and teach you how Christianity is wrong or Islam is wrong or anything like that. They just say "This is what evolution theory says. Now here's a test on it." 2) Why would being on our deathbed make us want to convert to any religion? Atheists like me go through our whole lives wishing there was a creator and an afterlife, but not believing in one because every bit of logic we have in our bodies tells us that they don't exist. Why should being near death be any different to a person of logic? 3) How does not having religion mean you don't have basic morals? Have you ever even heard of the Spanish Inquisition? |
