Thursday, March 20, 2008 7:13:07 PM Jackson Pollock actually had a method behind his work. There's repetitious patterns, actual subtle words hidden in the paints splatters, things scrawled in different languages, hidden images. He had a technique, method, and purpose behind everything he did. And it wasn't just 'splattered on'. He built himself a complex system of pullies, levers, and machines that all made a slightly different effect with the paint, and each had to be worked and timed carefully. His work took skill and planning, it wasn't just paint thrown on canvas. Tiget Woods? Pah. Get a friggen life. Some people might think it's art, but where's the meaning in it? There's no passion and dedication. Art used to be about emotion and translating the world the artist saw into something different and unique. Now it's just a title. You can take a dump on cardboard and call it art, and the world will think you're a prodigy. No one cares anymore as long as they get their fifteen minutes of fame, even if they already di |

Thursday, March 20, 2008 4:23:32 PM Husky is right. Art is loosing value. Today's society is too caught up in hurting people's feelings. It's why Harvard gives A's to keep people from going to another school and why we consider everything "art" just because you drew some lines and put colored hand prints on a piece of paper does not make it art.As for the video, hey go for it Tiger.. But i look down on the car company for this. It doesn't look like good art. The idea was genuine gold, but it didn't turn out all that great and certainly doesn't go well with "It shows what we put into our cars." Art + car = nothing. It doesn't show anything related to your cars expect the fact that you can put them in the same room. Fail. just fail. Whatever though, someone'll buy this for 7.1 million bucks. you watch. |

Thursday, March 20, 2008 4:14:56 PM Definitely not something I would buy. I even hate abstract art. But there is more than enough rich people wanting to throw away their money on something like this. Might as well make it for charity :P |

Thursday, March 20, 2008 2:23:13 PM Wow, my friend and I were talking about how art is losing value nowadays in drawing class lol. Tiger's right - you can get away with anything in art nowadays. But that's not really art... it's not even abstract... that woman at the end speaks bs. Even abstract takes planning and carries symbolism within its figures. This is just splattered paint applied in a different way... it doesn't take planning and attention to detail and all that. He just hits the ball. Today's definition of art is too broad, and we gotta narrow it down a bit. |

Thursday, March 20, 2008 11:21:51 AM "any time money goes to charity, it's a positive thing." Well intentioned Tiger, but by that logic it looks like you ought to be giving up every cent you've got. |
