The event was called sandblast and from what I understand of it (was still farely young when this happened) People would ride weird things down the hill to see who would be fastest. Of course they haven't done it since this accident. Oh, and there have been rumours floating around about one of the guys getting hurt pretty bad, but who knows, I remember one time this was posted and a guy claimed to be one of the ones on the couch and said him and his friends were all fine, but who knows with the internet.
