Friday, March 14, 2008 2:44:51 PM I kind of have to agree with IkeRay... Sci-fi has to do with spins off of scientific theories and ideas... Gladiator would be a very big stretch since history is not really scientific and Twister, although science is used, does not really have a twist on science. I would say Twister more easily falls under realistic fiction than scientific fiction, especially since scientific fiction almost always implies things that are outside of the realm of possibilities, whether by idea or lack of technology to do it. |

Thursday, March 13, 2008 5:39:17 PM IkeRay, yes, you're right. You cant throw all fiction into sci-fi. But I do think people tend to believe that sci-fi is only space and rocket ships, which isnt true. As a matter of fact, classic political thrillers like the Manchurian Candidate, the China Syndrome and the Parallax View could also be classified as great Sci-Fi. Anyway, I wouldnt go to war arguing that all the films in this quiz are sci-fi, but I think you could make a pretty good case that Twister fits the Sci-Fi mold. Gladiator, on the other hand, is more of a stretch... |

Thursday, March 13, 2008 4:03:10 PM and by that definition jrok, all movies that are fictional are sci-fi, meaning a drama or a comedy would be classified under sci-fi.sci-fi by definition is "Science Fiction" a spin on a scientific aspect of life, normally space and aliens but also includes futuristic and alternate dimensions/fantasy based worlds. gladiator i classify more as a fictional historic film, speculation of what happened back when, and twister is more of a "this is the life of tornado chasers" than "what if we could track tornados" because people do track tornados. |

Thursday, March 13, 2008 3:45:39 PM Actually, Twister and Gladiator could certainly be defined as Sci-Fi. Sci-Fi is basically speculative fiction, where things take a twist on the real world and say "What if?" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_fic... |

1) Haven't a clue 2)Looks like one of the Mars sci-fi movies 3)Matrix 4)Serenity 5)Seen it but don't recall the movie 6)Back to the future 7)No clue 8)Twister 9)No clue 10)Gladiator
These are all fiction, but not all of them were sci-fi. What sci-fi quiz isn't complete without Star trek and Star Wars. the two greatest franchises in the sci-fi genre. This quiz smells of mild fail D: |

Thursday, March 13, 2008 3:22:28 PM You can't just put a close reference answer... you need to put the exact answer. If you put: "Back to the future 2" it wont work but if you put "Back To The Future part II" it will work. It's so poorly done that I lost interest. I would like to know what's the first answer tho... |
