i may be pointing out the obvoius here...but i'll give it a shot. did anyone notice right near the middle while home-boy is running around looking for his gurl he runs in between some foundation things and for half a second he looks like his monster form...thought it was a nice detail worth pointing out, AMAZING video btw! |

There are 2 things that hint that the guy and the monster are the same person. When the monster is climbing up the tower, if you pause at one point it's the guy not the monster, and the other one when the guy is running behind pillars, between 2 of the pillars which are close together, it's the monster not the guy. |

that was a romantic story it was so sick and twisted i loved it the other side of him took over and killed his girl friend the song at the beginning helped help tell of the other side of him he killed his wife because his other side took over |

When the butterfly came back to life, I thought that maybe the lover would come back to life too. It didn't happen. I thought they looked cool, but not the 2nd personality/monster of the dude. He made me barf a little. |

Animation was quite nice..but that song was AWFUL! Ugh...it made me wanna stop watching! The only reason i left the sound on was because i didn't know if their would be speaking at the end or something. |

Whatever, DaveyyBooy. Would anyone call this Lovecraftian? Although I think it's a stretch to say that it's of the same nature as Poe's work, you can't deny that the animation was Burton-esque. He sees the monster because he's experiencing memories as an onlooker to the situation, detached from it. And then he realizes that the monster is himself. |

wow, thanks lauraly and nerdfighter! you guys really cleared it up! i think if i would have arrived at the MPD thing eventually, but i don't think i would have completely understood all the small details, like the hands in the beginning.good people DO exist on IAB! :D |

Uh this sucked. It was nothing like Poe or Burton (that's an insult to their work if you ask me). And it made no sense. I understand your arguments about MPD, but that's not really how it works. If they were two personalities of him, how would he see the monster dragging her 500 feet away in a cave? And how would he see its hand pulling her off of that ledge. This is gay. Oh and the music drating blew chunks. |

By removing the girl, he cripples the power of the weaker personality, and is able to take over.So we see two themes here: man vs. himself, and love vs. selfishness (hate and love are too similar, selfishness is the true opposite of love). And of course the overall destructive nature of love.

How do I put this...a weaker quiet person may wish to be more dominant, so much to the point that they develop a dominant, and overpowering personality. Their motives could aid in this process; they may want to be stronger to protect someone, or because they fear for their life. Enough to create a new personality (have you ever seen Fight club?). I think this clip DOES explain why he develops the alternate personality.
