I don't think it's that painful. Our fist turns into that glob of mess whenever we punch something, be it a brick or a sandbag. What made it look painful was the added cracking sound.

That's probably why he doesn't feel much pain. Evidently the force is spread out between his bones, so that each bone feels about the same amount of force.

That's what I think was happening anyway.

Still impressive.
