Wednesday, February 20, 2008 12:59:21 PM WOW...Video games UH. Wonder how Counter Strike played on the UNIVAC system of the 1966's where Charles Whitman climed to the top of the tower at the University of Texas and took out 14 people. Wow I guess I didn't know violent video games were around back then |

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 10:12:51 AM I love how he keeps talking about the VT shooting, since it was proven that the worst thing that person played was Tetris. |

Tuesday, February 19, 2008 9:13:47 AM Ya I wish he wasn't there either. He certainly didn't waste any time going into his video game attack. That just screams agenda. What a tool... |

Monday, February 18, 2008 11:26:51 PM angelicamber for your information, jack thompson is essentially the Original video games hater, penny arcade wrote a check for a children's charity in jack thompson's name and he tried to sue them for it, that's how big of a douche he is. Still I don't know how anyone can take this idiot serious, maybe that's why only fox news is the only show that'll have him. |

Monday, February 18, 2008 5:03:22 PM video games? You can sit on your high horse and blame video games while you condone the war in Iraq, but that only makes you a huge hypocrite. Even the simplest of minds can see right through your transparent showboating.I've been involved in debates with self-proclaimed, ultra-right-wing-religious-do-gooders such as yourself before and they always ended up the same way. Sooner than later, you all go back under the rock you climbed out from under when the hot topic of the day changes. Again, any real life violence is reprehensible no matter what sparks it, but your priorities, Mr. Thompson, are way off base. Sincerely, Toby Speeks |

Monday, February 18, 2008 5:02:28 PM Mr. Thompson,As far as I know you're a lawyer, a spin doctor, by profession. What basis do you think you have to pass judgment on video games? If I ask, I could easily find ten professional rebuts to every one of your arguments. You should know that being a lawyer. Granted, the school shooting tragedies of the last decade and even further past are horrible but, they account for a very tiny fraction of all the violence in the U.S. and world wide that takes place every day. I believe you picked your battle because you only want limelight, your ten minutes of fame. You care little about the victims, it's just a hot topic and you sir, are on the bandwagon. How about the war in Iraq Mr. Bush lied to us about that has killed almost 4000 U.S. men and woman (not counting the unknown thousands of non-U.S. casualties)? There is, believe it or not, real life violence shown and heard on all forms of media every single day and night. Don't you think that may have at least as much influence as |

Monday, February 18, 2008 10:24:44 AM I posted something similar to this on the first NIU posting, but here's my idea on how to stop these school shootings. It has nothing to do with gun control laws or school policy or anything like that. First, ask yourself why these guys do this. If they feel their lives are miserable, why not just kill themselves and get it over with? Why take out a bunch of innocents? Why go out like this? If you ask me, it's all about the legacy. They feel like they don't matter and that the world has stepped all over them. They want the world to know their name. They want to show the world what they are capable of. I think a law should be passed, whenever something like this happens, that prohibits all media outlets from publicizing or broadcasting the name or photo of the shooter. Not only out of respect for the dead, but so the killer does not get what he or she wanted. Think about it, if the world was never to know who they were, would these people be so inclined to do something like this? |

Monday, February 18, 2008 9:00:30 AM To VikingGuy I wasn't saying anything bad about trenchcoats, infact I wear one. I love trenchcoats. Just saying that all the shooters seem to wear them when they go shooting, and saying not alot of people wear them, they're obviously imitating eachother. Too much of a coincedence otherwise |

Monday, February 18, 2008 2:18:07 AM ok about the gun law stuffs...making guns illegal in the US is probably a bad idea. but in the uk making guns legal would be a terrible idea. criminals in the uk are the only ones with guns, true, but because of our gun laws there are far fewer criminals with guns, and the need for criminals to carry guns is reduced also even our police don't need to routinely carry guns, a testament to how well our gun laws protect us?

Sunday, February 17, 2008 8:50:55 PM ok i could get into the psychology but plenty of people have, i could call him a douche, but still others have before me, what i haven't heard is that games can't actually train youbelieve it or not a boomerrang shaped controller or a keyboard and a mouse can teach me to aim properly, they can't teach me what to do if the gun jams, or remind that you have to rooster the gun, or teach you to count the shots cause in real life you don't have an ammo meter, believe it or not they don't even teach tatics that well, cause video games are scripted, real life isn't, and i don't know of a single game that teaches you to kill yourself after your big massacre the sadder parts are is one he didn't wait for a statement about the guy or what was going on with him previosly, nor did he even build to it, he didn't try to gently persuade he just flat out went it's video games and that my friends pisses me off |

Sunday, February 17, 2008 8:18:10 PM "train" "rehearsed" "learned", those are not things that games can give you. TRUST ME! I play counter strike, Unreal tournament, and other first person shooters. I also shoot real guns. I can tell you that without going to the range to shoot, my skills did not improve from playing a video game. I also play army with a bunch of friends in the woods and I am not any more stealthy because I play a video game. |
