It's a cult...people subscribe to it when they are most vulnerable and it seems like a panacea for a weak mind. A large part of scientology has been/is composed of ex-cons, ex-drugaddicts and the like. People at their lowest points...ready to latch onto anything to return their lives to "normalcy"

Scientology is based on secrets. Secrets which you have to pay for...those "devout" in the "church" work, eat, sleep and breathe scientology. The compounds around Clearwater are topped with barbbed wire and this is a safe city.

Like I said, I live in Clearwater so I have many friends who work with or are related to a scientologist. I've heard many stories from first hand accounts. Compounds in the southwestern United States that are militia training grounds. No joke kids. These same people who tell me the stories are scared too. They don't let you out with proper payment and a nondisclosure statement!

What "religion" that you know does this????

"You all need to lighten the F|_|CK up. Ever hear of tolerance? Or does everyone who is different scare you? That's pretty sad, but then again, ignorance and intolerance do rule the world.

Don't agree with someone asking for peoples money, and getting it? DON'T YOU GIVE ANY, THEN! If they want to waste money then it is their problem. The thing is, they believe in this stuff, so to them it isn't a waste."

Google 'Operation Freakout' and 'Operation Snow White'. Also take a look at Lisa McPherson.

Scientology is not only a religion, but a dangerous cult that extorts the members before killing them. It also has tried to kill anyone who dares to expose the truth, even stealing government documents.

STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM SCIENTOLOGY.

Scientology makes you sign contracts saying that you give your soul to the "religion" for 1 billion years, give over your house and money, and that you have to disown anyone who does not believe what you believe

Powpowking...too funny...and yet so true. I'm not the world's authority on Scientology, but I did grow up in Clearwater which is the world headquarters for Scientology. I've always responded the same to each of these posts. It is a cult and there are many reasons why it does not act like an organized religion. Check out my Blog post on Scientologyfor a Clearwater native's point of view.

"It's like somebody gave a 10 year old tree house club...several millions dollars ..and things got out of hand."

Lol, was thinking along the same lines.

WAY TOO MANY FAULTS TO PUT ALL IN ONE POST!!

1. They have an awards ceremony? for what, Giving the most money?
2. Cleansing the world? Of what?
3.Lets all go out and Follow some story that some 8 year old made up while he was playing "Astronaut" with his friend
4.But seriously people, have you looked at yourself?
Im extremely tolerant of other religions, i try to understand about how, what, and why they beile what they do but Scientolgy is just way too far out of any strech of imagination to truly believe it.

I think Tom Cruise just did it to get publicity
because his acting carrer is going farther and farther down the poop tube

what? i mean the whole scientology thing is pretty strange but this was just an awards show with tom cruise doing the *only* thing he does - bad acting. not half as creepy as a christian youth convention altar call if you know what i mean.

Every organized religion in the world collects money from it's own flock. That is how they continue to exist as a congregation. Funny; I'm an Atheist, and yet I have no problem with tithing...

"I've me the leaders of leaders"?!?!? Of course! International affairs are a facade! It's all controlled by a syndicate of people devoted to Scientology. If they can get to Will Smith they can get to anybody!

"Y'know it's funny that we're making fun of scientology when any other religion is just about the same. I mean, the world appearing in a few just just like that? Take this into account people, look at your religion before you criticize others."

You are right, to an extent. BUT it's Tom Cruise who is making them look like insane cultists, hell bent on (how did Tom so graciously put it?) "Cleaning" up the world.
