There is this guy in the Chicago area that goes to Bear signings, and has them sign his body, then goes to the tat shop and has their signatures tattoed just as they are. His goal is to get as many '86 Bears that he can.

I understand and appreciate all of your points, SmagBoy1. I'm just saying that the support and money of the fans are what make a franchise successful, so anybody who is loyal and pays to watch a team can rightfully consider themselves a part of the organization, no matter how insignificant it may seem. They're obviously not a part of the team in terms of being on the roster, but they still contribute to the success of the franchise and should be able to include themselves in the celebration and sense of pride. |

Ha! Okay, AKappy, you keep right on thinking that. Personally, I'd say, "Dude, the Chargers played great and we (as in, the fans) totally had the (insert opponent's name here)'s offense off kilter with our yelling. They couldn't even think straight we were so loud!"The "12th man" is a legitimate distraction for visiting teams, I agree, but it's also a marketing ploy. Here, try this: do you think the Bolts could play without you? Hmmmm, well, let's see, yes! They did just that last week against the Colts. So "you" didn't win. Your friends didn't win. The Chargers did. Granted, you got to see your team win, in pretty impressive fasion, I might add, but you aren't a member of the Chargers and "you" didn't win that game. I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm just saying I find the idea delusional that a fan speaks and acts as if he/she is a member of the team. |

This ranks right up there with people who get band names tattooed on their arms, backs, etc.. I knew a guy who got the Godsmack symbol tattooed on his arm.. He wasn't the only one.. it got so bad that tattoo studios refused to do the Godsmack symbol anymore.. At least this guy can grow his hair out and hide his shame should it ever come to it.. |
