In all, it's a fantastic structure, I'd like to add.

But I'd also like to remind the people who are claiming that ants are "stupid creatures" that have "a mental capacity high enough just to eat, dig, and sleep" that ants do many "human" things, such as farming, waging war, and communicating through both noise and motions. Only human ego would believe that ants cannot feel emotions or have an opinion.

While it's certainly not going to kill the species in one action, the acceptance because "it's science" is rather alarming. Remember the two headed dog? That was just science as well.

On a final note, I'm going to vivisect SlippySanta, because I'm a living thing, and they kill other living things. It's only reasonable, and for science, so don't sympathize for him.

GENOCIDE by entombment in concrete! Even the Nazi's didn't try that one! This place will forever be remembered as ANTSCHWITZ.

(No offense meant!)

That was pretty interesting but it does suck that they slaughtered the whole city for it... =/

Oh jesus, guys, they're ants! There are more ants in one metropolitan city than there are humans in the entire world. I think the species will survive.

WOW! The highest rating I've ever seen on I-A-B! And surely it deserves it. After it stopped I was like "Aww...I wanna see more."

They didn't kill the ants they liberated them from their fascist dictatorship regime! The queen was too mean! I mean do really think that they weren't a threat?
All joking asside i think this is what happens to religious fundalmentalists in the next life they get what they want..... to live with heads buried in the ground and everyone they will ever know will think exactly the same as they do. :)

Ants: To arms! To arms! were under attack by a giant white hose!

They start attacking it getting nowhere. Then out of nothing a flood of cement eradicates them all.

I want to see a vid of army ants battling something... This vid was cool to tho.

Alright, for all you ant-lovers out there...
Stop talking like every ant is able to reproduce! Only a few ants are born in a colony that are able to spread their genes, and they leave when it's time to mate.
However, I'm disappointed at their use of concrete (though, in regards to size, I'm not sure what else they could have used)
I saw one entomologist on Animal Planet cast a colony out of zinc, but that colony had died out so there wasn't anything to kill with molten metal.

Use a giant cat scan? >^..^< You leave my giant fat kitties alone! Why I oughta... not "giant cat" scan, but a giant "ct scan"? Oops! My mistake!
Seriously, they'd need to encircle the ant-city in order to scan it, causing just as much damage to the ants as the concrete did.
And yes it is impressive! Beautiful even. But the ant's didn't know any of that while they were making it. They just did what the hive-mind told them to do. AND they don't have children, only the Queen reproduces. It's like the ants are all sisters (or brothers) they don't reproduce.
But their city is really really cool!

At least now we can understand what they do.

Wow, people sympathizing for something with a mental capacity high enough just to eat, dig, and sleep.

YAY, that's what those bastard ants get. Although what they created was cool as bawls, I still consider them my enemy...till the end of time

Could they not have ultrasounded that or done some sort of giant cat scan? You don't need to drill my brain out to do a 3D scan of it, you don't need to drill my bird's unborn baby to do a 3d scan of that, so why the hell do you need to pour 10 tonnes of concrete into an ant city?

I think this outpouring of compassionate sentiment is nice. Most humans really do hate to see a lot of hard work squandered, even by ants. I agree that they are JUST ants and it don't really matter, but my faith in humanity is restored a little. Stop the world, I want to get back on!

I read that in terms of shear weight, all the combined ants in the world far outweigh the weight of all humans in the world. As much as my heart goes out to the ants in that colony...I am sure there are a few more giant ant cities around. Crazy...Reminded me of some alien pod city from that movie....

I love how they figured out how to make an air conditioning throughout the garden, that is simply ingenious.

after the ant home was over it showed an ant with a tweezer to be crawling upside down and then they did a strength test by looping things to the ant and see how much it could hold upside down if anyone was wondering
