Wednesday, December 19, 2007 8:37:28 PM Tourettes, I don't think it's racial as much as it is location. Blacks and hispanics tend to live in areas with more poverty and worse schooling. backs your statements up with facts as opposed to personal experiences and vague, general claims. And don't cite Mencia, he's an idiot. |

Monday, December 17, 2007 9:44:57 AM "Teachers at the school stand to receive $3,000 bonuses if their school improves."There's the bottom line. Lower the standards, more students get passing grades, the school can post improved results and get more funding. The taxpayers lose because more money will be alloted for a school with lower standards. The students lose because their education level is lowered. Society as a whole loses eventually when the graduates enter the job market or end up on public relief becaust they can't compete. |

Monday, December 17, 2007 7:30:55 AM our high school had to create an 8 and a half grade for students who couldn't get past middle school but not ready for high school. They were in a trailer in the back. |

Monday, December 17, 2007 5:44:53 AM Come on people the answer is obvious! Minorities can't learn as well as Whites and Asians can! It's a freaking fact and nobody can BS me on it! The reason why my alma mater high school is still in the top 100 for at least a decade is because the school was 40% asian and 40% white. If that isn't enough, think about all the inner city schools full of hispanics and blacks. Deep South schools full of post-slavery blacks. New York City and its mix. No learning, all failures. Carlos Mencia had a bit about how and why asians were sucessful; it is a little bit racial but the rest of it was becuase of their effort, and not even that, asian kid's parents busting their butt to get at least a B average. |

Sunday, December 16, 2007 6:57:42 PM To be completely honest, I never smoked pot before, and never had any urge to, the real reason I am moving, is cause that is where my GF lives since her dad moved ~her parents divorced, 6 months of the year she lives here, the other 6 months she lives over there~ she finishes her school this year, and she will move back with me here, then we move over there after we get married, since we figure it will be easier since she is a citizen of both countries. |

Sunday, December 16, 2007 2:48:24 PM I'm scared for our future teachers. There will be so many rules along with the No Child Left Behind stuff that writing a curriculum will be difficult. Address the ones with low intellegence, everyone will get bored. Focus on the norm, the gifted will still be bored and the lesser will get frustrated. I think the principal was on to something when he wanted teachers to change the way they teach; however, don't lower the standards, just be flexible with the way children learn. |

Saturday, December 15, 2007 11:39:58 PM I think its an excuse to give them more money, most establishments give money to the ones that do the best, and weed out the institutions that can't teach their kids. However, I also believe its the students more then the teachers, a lot of people use their home life as an excuse not to learn, instead of trying to apply themselves. If it was bad enough where you can't study or learn, or do your homework, thats where you take it to child services or something. I don't like the dumb it down standards either, most countries in europe and asia, teach their kids 2-3 languages as mandatory, including english, when they START school, where as we have to take it as elective? That isn't right. I took the time to learn 4 languages outside of school just to stay on par with the rest of the world, as well as take free online classes (not for college or anything) to learn physics and astronomy. Right now I am taking IT programs, after reading up on it, and it shocks me that other people I.. |

Saturday, December 15, 2007 9:32:37 PM This is what you get when the government is in charge of things. I don't think their bosses are going to lower standards to compensate for their lazy-ass employees. |

Saturday, December 15, 2007 9:16:44 PM Standards should not be lowered. Schools should be split, giving limited education to the idiots and giving the best the best education. We should not be wasting effort and money on kids that cannot handle learning. If kids are dumb, leave them behind and elevate the best. Elitism in education works. |

Saturday, December 15, 2007 7:56:15 PM I've always wondered what would happen if the U.S. made secondary education a choice...We'd probably end up with the same result, except it wouldn't be the teachers fault. |

Erm, is that surprising? Public education has been about moving at the pace of the slowest snail for at least a decade. It's not "fair", you see, to allow morons to fail. It's much more fair to let everyone graduate, even if they can't pass a basic spelling test or do long division. |

Saturday, December 15, 2007 4:32:09 PM ""If you are not passing more than 65 percent of your students in a class, then you are not designing your expectations to meet their abilities, and you are setting your students up for failure, which, in turn, limits your success as a professional.""...YOU DAMNED FOOL! go talk to all 5 of my profs. they'll insult you more accurately than I can. |

Saturday, December 15, 2007 1:32:21 PM It makes sense cause I live in area somewhat like that...I think they shouldn't do it though...because I can almost promise those kids who are not passing don't want to be there and are probably just slanging dope while they are there causing problems...I hate them... I hope they become bullet catchers |
