I'm surprised nobody has picked up on this yet, but this is not a commercial for a photo developer. I've seen this video before, I just can't remember where (I'm counting on you, link hounds! If anyone can find it in its original context, it's the folks here). Then, someone tacked on the foto-prix bit at the end in an attempt at humor. That attempt is an abysmal failure. This was/is a very powerful video about perception vs. reality, wants vs. needs, and hope vs. dismay. While I think that there is no topic which is off limits when it comes to comedy, I do feel that you have an obligation to actually be *funny* if you are going to do something along these lines. |

I think everyone here is missing the point. 'Perfect pictures for an imperfect world', now ponder that. Each person's pictures is a memory of a good epoch, pull away to reveal a bad one (except for the first boy in which it showed a hope). Following that one could conclude that the company is stating: we will help you remember good times; which I think is a good advert. Secondly because it IS powerful and depressing, as the preponderance has stated, you will remember this commercial. Two points- echoes of tranquility and memory. I say this is a good commercial, just not analyzed enough, even though you say it is thought provoking. |
