Thursday, November 08, 2007 5:38:53 PM ImNoGod, they adjust the tone by adjusting the frequency of the AC current flowing through the primary coil. |

Thursday, November 08, 2007 2:23:24 PM That was very cool.Call me pessismistic but that could have been easily done (well at least not as difficult) by just programing the teslas to do it to that rhythm and dub a strange version of Mario Bros over the top of it on the video. But fingers crossed it was real: I would be too disapointed if it was. That's one sexy video you've got there, kudos to IAB |

Thursday, November 08, 2007 1:14:27 PM Not only is this a repost of something already on IAB but its a rehash of a link posted to Digg yesterday. Same with the "Sci-fi inventions that suck" post. How about some originality here? |

Thursday, November 08, 2007 12:56:18 PM I am asking, tell me more about Telsa Coils? This amazing, but I am more of a biology girl... how do they work (in more detail)? Obviously I am going to do research so don't yell please, but it is more palatable if someone else explains as well:)

Thursday, November 08, 2007 12:04:28 PM Tesla coils are basically electrical transformers. The sparks are arcs of electrical current leaping through the air. To activate the coils, you use very high voltages and currents. You can change the frequency of the current in the primary coil, which is how you alter the pitch of the sound created by the sparks. That's how they make music with it. |
