Global warming isn't caused by humans. A single volcano eruption created an extreme climate change a few hundred years ago, spreading more "greenhouse gasses" than all six billion of us do in a decade. Ten big explosive eruptions could change the global temperature enough to kill us all. There are hundreds of active volcanos. However, the global warming fanatics that worship the great Goreacle and his random fact generator do us some good - the Earth is running out of fossil fuels. The amount of oil we find each year is less than the amount we use, and the difference is increasing. There are hard facts to back it up, nobody with a drating brain disagrees. So I love it when retards "go green", it's extending the amount of time we have to find a way to live without fossil fuels. All hail the Goreacle!

It's amazing how quickly morons will automatically say "GLOBAL WARMING!" Umm, hate to let you "educated" people down, but that's a normal occurrence. Happens whether or not the earth is heating up. Sorry guys!

And Llamaalex: Right on!

Am I the only one that is upset at seeing it collapse?
I watched that with horror. I mean, it was obviously expected, and will more than likely build back up again...
But I don't know. It just feels a shame to lose such a beautiful formation, even it will come back eventually. How people can sit in the background, continually saying 'wow!' like its a firework display just amazes me.

Well, there is one thing that does wory me, I dont know how much of this scenario is true but the permafrost is thawing and some say that it could realease tons of methane in the atmosphere, that could have (really) catastrophic effects. Is it true? I dont know. Should we take this seriously? I do think so.

We will have to move away from fossil fuel. At this momment, there is less and less each day and the price is going up. But the production price isnt and the saudis are getting richer and richer... may have too much power one day.
And even if fossil fuel didnt cause global warming, it does affect the air quality, deacreses your lung capacity and makes syou sneeze black. Also linked to cancer, but that is like evrything else...

PancakeLess (sad name, by the way), if you think there's hate HERE, you should read IAB's Evolution-VS-Creationism debates. Now THOSE are hate-filled threads; this is barely a petty spat in comparison.

Hey, Pielle. I don't know what the hell you're talking about, but I certainly didn't, in your wildest dreams, blatantly discredit anything. That was all inside your trigger happy little head. I was laughing at the kneejerk reaction to this clip by some who automatically said "global warming." You only imagined that I was discrediting the global warming issue because...well...I don't really know why. I guess somewhere along the way you've been conditioned to do so. Based on my comments about this clip, I can't see how anyone would be able to determine my position on global warming, let alone justify your rant in your earlier post.

Well damn, I mean its not like its the end of the world, warmer could be better as far as we know. People are so scared of "LIEK OGM WARMAR WETHAR" when they have no clue what the effects can be. We will adapt to the changes of the Earth, its not gunna happen overnight (if it does at all). And thanks for posting the climate changes davymid

As I said, I was baching them about thier way of balantly discrediting global warming without giving anything to back it up. I am well aware that the "Inconveniant Truth" is a propagandist movie. It also seems that "The great Global Swindle" is just as much... Who to belive? I am not a hardcore activist either, there seem to be some serious evidence for anthropogenic global warming but I am aware of the opposition.

Refusing the evidence and being wrong could be casatrofic while acting now (but still reasonably) will only haste a bit the inevitable fossil fuel weaning.

I say better safe then sorry.

Listen up,

In the late PreCambrian period (c.700Mya), the entire planet was frozen. I mean one big ice cap from pole to equator. If you could have observed earth from space, it would have looked like a giant pearl.

By the early Cretaceous (c.135Mya), things had reversed, and the global climate was tropical from pole to pole. There were no ice-caps, and the entire planet was covered in warm tropical seas.

Point is, this was a looooong way before people came along. The climate naturally varies wildly, by natural processes.

So Pielle (I had a go at citrus earlier, so only fair that I have a go at you now), don't presume that global climate change is caused by human effects. Global wamring is real. The Question is, how much is due to us?

Personally, I think the answer is "Very Little". Climate Change is natural, and very little to do with people, if we recycle, what type of car we drive, etc etc.

^^Pielle, citruspinman and others,

Before I start, I'm a professional geoscientist, so I know what I'm talking about. First off, this is the annual summer melting of the Perito Moreno Glacier (not an "iceberg off the coast of Argentina" as per the description), and has little to do with global warming.

Secondly (directed at you, citrus), "The Great Global Warming Swindle" is even worse than "An Inconvenient Truth" in terms of distorting the scientific facts (although both are guilty) to meet the requirements of the preconceived message. Each movie/pseudo-documentary tries to convince the watcher that there is a "scientific consensus" on global warming one way or the other. The truth of the matter is, the jury is still out among us earth scientists.

Pielle, I think you should get your head out of your ass before you speak. I think you are one of the stupid ass-captains that have only seen the "Inconvenient Truth" and are trying to force your opinions on other people. Before you try to pull that move, you should see all of the viewpoints of an issue, in this case, global warming. You have seen the make-believe scientist/politician/bringer of bad news spill his crap upon you, so now i think you should see the real scientists talk about global warming. Al Gore used vague statements and gross exaggerations. So you should let the grown ups talk now, "The Great Global Warming Swindle" is a movie made by REAL scientists, and they have FACTS. Al Gore is NOT A REAL SCIENTIST, he does NOT HAVE FACTS. And who said this climate right now is the optimal one? As the temperature changes, we will adapt. You idiot.

Llamaalex, Manorrd : Can you even read? Or if you can read, are you able to properly understand a text? The object of my post was NOT to say that that particular event was linked to golabal warming. The object of my post was to say that saying that it is obviously not linked to GW is just as stupid as saying that is defitly is. You know like in "we dont know". If you actualy knew that THIS particular event was positivly NOT linked to GW, then you sould have enlighten us with the information you had.

I am not a environmental activist and I dont care if Llamaalex burns a bag of kittens, I just think that GW is not something to be taken lightly. There is a scientific concensus at the momment, if you are to oppose global warming, bring some sound facts.
