The only one I got was Michigan because I know it is shaped like a mitten. I should have paid attention in world geography. Lol.

Wow. I got 100%, but the most amusing part of this game was all the arguments it caused here...
So people think Americans should apologize for not caring about geography? I'd like to see what percentage of British children, let alone most of the people in the world, can name the capital of Nicaragua before saying that Americans suck at geography. And it's not that we don't care, but we share our continent with two other countries. From a local standpoint, it's not exactly necessary for an American to know much more than that, just because we don't come in contact with other countries as frequently as people in Europe do. The countries who scored better than us in geography have other countries all around them, all of which they should be able to name. All we've got around us is more states, and it's more important to the US to learn about them rather than some random country in Europe, kay?

I've been accused of a lot of negative things in this thread, none of which are true. The best comment was the fact that the US is introspective, belly button gazing.

Why is it that obsesive teaching of history and geography is so important in a culture that finds it so hard to control itself i.e. gun culture etc.

Re. Iraq and the wider world I know enough to get by but it seems that where ever I look there are US soldiers "fighting for peace".

I'll leave this for you and can someone pass it on to Bush for me:

"FIGHTING FOR PEACE IS LIKE F**KING FOR VIRGINITY"

Thank you once more, manorrd!

Report me to the moderators, if you will, davymid, but I haven't seen my posts deleted yet

Oh, and btw...

Once you said something about swearing, count the number of swear words i said...

Lol you act like the little 13 yr olds all don't know where babies come from and still do the "earmuffs" thing when their parents swear!

Jesus, man, most of the 13 yr olds on here swear more than I do!

Shepherd, We in the US value geography and history. Its important but I can see why you guys wouldnt like it since we kicked yer ass in the Revolution and the Brits just cant get over that even now. Yes we did have help from those pesky French but we paid em back by saving their ass in WWII.

Whereas your deep and heartfelt compassion for the frail and delicate sensitivities of this forum's 13 year olds is admirable, leave the moderating of the rules to the moderators.

You are not a moderator, and it's not your job to insist anything of other members, least of all issue banning warnings.

davymid...it's just a game. There are tons of games out there just like this one (some have been posted here) where the shapes of world countries, or British counties, or the 22 French regions, or the Canadian provinces and territories or whatever the fück are used in games to help learn geography.

And what the hell does the $US vs. $CAD have to do with anything. The $CAD has been higher than the $US before, but the US economy kept moving up. The currency fluctuation has nothing to do with the American military spending it's budget money in Iraq.

Your comment actually made YOU seem more obsessed than the Americans you sneer at.

Jesus Christ, davymid, turn this simple, and amusing, game into a sociology lecture about how STUPID we Americans are and how much BETTER than us everybody else is.

You know why American kids can't find Iraq on a map? For the same reason British kids can't find Idaho on a map.

IT DOESN'T FÜCKING MATTER UNLESS YOU'RE A GEOGRAPHY MAJOR!

As for the people who know nothing about the world outside of the U.S., I just don't care. As selfish or inward as it may sound, why should people know anything that doesn't directly affect them. I can locate Iraq on a map, but my life would be approximately 0% different if I couldn't, so who gives a poo?

Shepherd is obviously an idiot, and probably one of those people that can't point out Iraq on a map.
