Tuesday, October 16, 2007 7:47:23 PM By the way, there are actually British, French, American, German and French Canadian versions of "The Office" and they're all hilarious. |

Tuesday, October 16, 2007 6:53:03 PM ajb1300... i agree that many of our 'movie theatres' (we call them cinemas...) are full of american 'movies' (we call them films...). But there is one massive reason...HOLLYWOOD. The majority of films are Hollywood made so naturally there will be more shown. But British films are often more gritty, real to life and do just as well. There are just less, unsurprisingly considering the population difference. In my opinion they're superior but let me stress it's just my opinion. The thing about the vast majority of music and tv shows being American....what? You clearly don't know Britain mate. There is such little respect for many American music artists - you can keep your Spears, Timberlakes and Aguileras thanks. Especially your Rihannas! This is the land of The Beatles, The Stones, The Who and Oasis. There is a fair bit of American tv over here - Friends obviously took off, Desperate HW and Heroes are superb. But most of the TV is British made and acted. And very good it is too! |

Monday, October 15, 2007 9:19:31 PM Wow.. Go British People. You guys thought of a show idea first. Go you!I lived in England for three years, and visited over the summer, and it seemed like almost every single movie in theaters over there were American made. Why do you have to take our movies? Why not just make your own? Because countries take different forms of media from each other and use them. I've personally seen both versions of The Office and I like the American version better. Does it really bother you that we have another version of the show? That's a bit pathetic. If you guys need to think that you thought of it first and we 'stole' it from you guys, go right ahead. But the United States in the Entertainment Capital of the world, and a vast majority of the music you listen to, the movies you watch, and even the TV shows that you see have come from the United States. So yeah, we used your idea for the office. No one affiliated with the British show objected to it, and we made it better, IMO. Big deal. |

Monday, October 15, 2007 8:32:22 PM THE REASON WE MADE AN AMERICAN VERSION IS BECAUSE: a) NOBODY ƒUCKING LIKES THE BRITISH ONE BECAUSE THEY CAN'T UNDERSTAND YOUR ANNOYING ACCENTS b)British people are ugly |

Sunday, October 14, 2007 11:24:44 PM I saw every single episode of the British office before the US one came out a year or so later and was very skeptical, having loved the British one.The first episode of the US series was similar to the British one, but since then they have gone down very different paths. At this point, there have been probably 40 or 50 episodes of the US one compared to only 12 of the British. I hope you guys over in the UK get the US version of the show. It's surprisingly good. |

Sunday, October 14, 2007 10:25:59 PM Oh My God. Everybody shut up about stealing shows and which one is better! If America took the show, then they were given permission and support from Gervais and Merchant. It should be a compliment that they liked it enough to want to translate it to N.American audiences. Obviously whichever one was seen first would be liked better (hence 'Europe' bitching the US one sucks) and in most cases, US people haven't even seen the original, so it's not like they can even compare. They are both awesome shows and we should all just shut up and appreciate them. Or just shut up and appreciate one while ignoring the other... while continuing to SHUT UP ABOUT IT.Ahem.. the clip was funny. |
