Sunday, October 14, 2007 5:28:51 PM At first I saw it going counter clockwise, and couldn't see how it wasn't. Then I called my sister and mom in to look at it, and they both saw it going clockwise. Then I looked back and it was going clockwise, but my mom said it had changed to counter-clockwise! It's very strange. Now I can't make it go back to counter-clockwise. |

Saturday, October 13, 2007 10:59:59 PM right-brained. but i finally figured out how to see it moving counter-clockwise. the right (our right) leg is either in front of or behind the dancer and i saw it behind so i assumed she was moving clockwise. |

Saturday, October 13, 2007 1:52:53 PM I've been staring at this for 15 minutes, and no matter how much I try, I can't see her moving clockwise, it's CLEARLY counter-clockwise... Her body is moving in a circle, going to the left, every part of her moves LEFT, how can it be the other direction??? WTF |

Saturday, October 13, 2007 1:23:44 AM Understand? You can switch thinking that as the pic rotates. This is what others meant by that it is a 2-D pic with no shading or depth. I hope this helps. I'm not sure whether or not I've explained it well enough. ^-^;;One question though: How come people say that it is always rotating clockwise even when they see it go counter? Couldn't it be also always rotating counterwise but we just see it going clockwise? Have fun controlling black naked women! ^-^ |

Saturday, October 13, 2007 1:18:05 AM Mwuahaha....I'm the master of the ballerina. Anyway, before you start ranting about how this thing is rigged or complaining about the whatnot and the hoo-wha, try actually reading the commments. I read all 14 pages of comments (boredom of course) and have found many execelent explanations on how to force to see both ways and the so on and the so forth. Sadly, I can't give everyone recognition on explain (but if you did, you have my thanks!) but one good explanation I found was on pg 13 from pinhead2020 (I picked this out mainly because it had many good visuals and I've heard most people including myself are visual learners). Check out his post and and bunch of others too and it shouldn't be that hard to control it. AND IT'S NOT RIGGED! Below is a screenshot of the pic:
See that dangling leg? You can either say that that leg in the front of or behind the other leg that is straight down |

Friday, October 12, 2007 7:37:30 PM I opened up two or three and the animation started flashing artifacts, stuttering, and switching spin direction every 2 seconds, which is strange because when I had one open I had to wait a long long time for it to switch direction. And they go opposite ways at the same time. Someone else should try it out.I would call it fake if some people didn't say that when they watched it with someone else they saw it different directions, so I don't know. I don't see how it could appear to go in both directions when there's the hair/face side and the back/breast side like someone said. |

Friday, October 12, 2007 6:50:44 PM I think it depends on at what point did you see the image. Some people may have clicked the link and noticed the spinning image a bit later than others, getting different results. I doubt this has anything to do with someone being left or right brained. Both solutions are logical, both solutions take just as much creative insight. |

Friday, October 12, 2007 7:35:06 AM I worked it out - have a look at the shadow of the moving foot. Tell yourself that it appears when the foot is moving BEHIND the body - hey presto, she appears to spin anti-clockwise. Now watch the shadow and tell yourself that it's appearing when the foot is moving IN FRONT of the body - hey presto, she appears to spin clockwise. It's a great optical illusion - remember that because she's a 2D image, she's not actually spinning - it's just a series of images. And for those who say "the animation's rigged", my DH and I were looking at it at the same time, and while I was saying she was changing direction, all he could see was clockwise. |
