Wednesday, October 10, 2007 7:23:51 AM Because the woman is a completely black image, you can see her 'standing' leg in front of the 'spinning' leg as she turns and depending on which leg you perceive as being in front, that's the direction it seems she is turning in.It's very clever. It's a 2D image which we look at in a 3D way - a kind of never-ending pendulum looks to us like someone spinning in three dimensions. |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 6:56:04 AM You can tell who is left brained and right brained just from reading these comments o_o Those who go into the technical details of how they think it works and those who don't...I saw both counterclockwise (first) and clockwise (second) after I stared at it for a while. I thought it purposely switched in the animation but I saved it and opened it in Imageready and it doesn't, I don't think. SO yeah, perspective? |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 6:29:15 AM I just can't see her going counter-clockwise.Interesting find. Although why this would prove I'm creative still evades me. |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 6:21:12 AM (This article says that most people will see her move counterclockwise. Funny, so far most IAB people claim to see her move clockwise...) |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 6:13:45 AM jleigon, why don't you read Vahnatai's post (page 2). It's your brains that decide how to interpret the movement. |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 5:35:06 AM I saw it going counter-clockwise first, and then after staring for a few minutes, I blinked, and it had changed direction. Weird. |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 5:20:55 AM finally figured how to do it. can't explain thoroughly though but i can assure you that it's not some random programming... |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 5:20:49 AM This is really a cheap trick. It's not a measure of left brain vs right brain. The image shifts direction after awhile. It's not perspective. It just shifts back and forth ever couple minutes to screw with you. If you want to know if you are right brain or left brain just ask yourself if you like math and science or poetry and art. This is gay |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 5:07:50 AM @supersassyk8: The image is a .gif image, there is no programming in it... You can't "program" an image. |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 4:39:24 AM Logical! Although when I scrolled down and could only see her legs, it appeared she was going the other way and I had to reload to see her go counter-clockwise again. I think the real joke here is that I stared at a dancing, naked woman and I'm not a lesbian.... |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 4:38:48 AM i saw both, i think it's not an illusion but a random programming. It does eventually switch round. |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 4:33:57 AM I think i figured it out, even though I can see it both ways with effort i always see it start off turning clockwise and it's easier for me to make it switch from counter-clockwise to clockwise than the other way around so i guess im more creative |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 4:29:51 AM I saw it as clockwise at first and then I put on my glasses and it was counter clockwise. I tried to get it to change directions without putting on/taking off my glasses but it doesn't work. |

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 4:11:36 AM Ya, I can only explain so much without a visual demonstration. A lot of kids that I teach front flip or backflips with 360 rotations confuse their spins when they get inverted so I show them how spinning clockwise or counter right side up becomes the opposite when you get inverted, even if the spin does not actually change direction. It's all good... the dancer is spinning to her right the entire time though. |
